I think you are right - I met Admiral Stockdale, (who was also in the Hanoi Hilton for many years) in 1980.

The Admiral, while brilliant and courageous his entire life, was, how shall I say it - unhinged.

No fault of their own perhaps - understandable - but not part of the needed resume to be Commander in Chief.

I wasn't aware that Admiral Stockdale had been a POW.

But his unsuitability for high office was apparent during those notorious VP debates.

Mitt Romney's father, George, was a governor of MI. He too, was a POW, but during the Korean Conflict.

His presidential bid came to a screeching halt when he said he was "brain washed".
