Typical liberal insanity.....

What defines the start of the "Common Era"? Uhhhhhhh......Christ's birth?

CE and BCE have been in use since I was in college, which was 1986-90.

Many thousands of temporary dating systems have been in use since man starting writing stuff down.

Modification and use of a particular religions system by folks not of that religion should be considered a victory by those professing that religion.

A system with a baseline using something permanently important, relative to Mankind, would make more sense.
A good such baseline would be the Toba Super Volcano near extinction event 75,000 BP.

CE/BCE makes perfect sense. If academic work is going to lay any claim at all to objectivity, it can't explicitly divide history into before and after a particular religious figure.

And, though it seems like it, it didn't 'accidentally' happen. Leftie places like PBS and certain universities started pushing the CE/BCE crap agenda quietly about a decade ago (that I noticed), just slipping it in to conversation or education as though everyone knew it. Like Hitler's theory on a lie, repeat it often enough...
