Donation will allow Minutemen to erect high-tech border fence(Longer version) ".."We're certainly not against immigration," said Nina (pronounced NINE-uh) May, the head of FOMGuard USA, which is donating the material to the anti-illegal immigration group. "We're against illegal immigration, because there are standards to follow. Too many people stand in line for years, and it's not fair to them."
FOMGuard USA represents FOMGuard Co., a South Korean enterprise that developed the fencing material.."

From your link:
May said the number of miles of fencing to be donated will depend on how the Minuteman volunteers want to configure it.
A 5-foot-high stand-alone fiber-optic mesh fence would require a different configuration and use less fiber-optic material than one 10 feet high, May said.
The Minuteman group has already erected more traditional fencing.

Back to the topic of the thread... From your post I Googled the company name and took a look at their
fiber optic fence sensor stuff. At the link, you can read through their "sales presentation" as well as read the letter from the USAF that congratulates the company for passing the qualification testing done with the USAF, and the letter also states that capabilities of the fence "should prove to be a valuable United States military asset" for years to come.
I'll have to look further at this story tomorrow. It does appear to have potential to at least catch or stop more than we're getting now.
Thanks for posting the story, mdittmar.
