Donation will allow Minutemen to erect high-tech border fence
KOLD ^ | Associated Press

TUCSON, Ariz. A Washington-based company is donating up to seven (m) million dollars worth of fiber-optic security fencing material for the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps for new barriers near the border.

The mesh has embedded sensors that can differentiate between human and animal contact and conditions such as high winds or heavy rain. Tied into cameras and alarms, the system can alert monitors to the precise location of any intrusion.

A spokeswoman for the Minuteman corps says the material could be used on range fencing similar to what the group put up earlier this year on a southern Arizona ranch.

Arizona's 377-mile border has been the focal point for smugglers bringing illegal immigrants into this country for years.

Okay.......you're wearing on me.

WELCOME TO FR! :-)

One terrorist has been caught on the west coast, who came across the Canadian border. Who knows how many weren't caught?

OTOH, it is common knowledge that upstate N.Y. has been a busy thoroughfare for Islamonazi terrorists. They cross Indian land up there and the Indians, before 9/11 turned a blind eye to it. Once 9/11 happened and some wanted terrorist pictures were printed in newspapers, that began to change.

A year or so ago, a rumor, that the Fed Gov/FBI/CIA was going after illegal Pakistanis went through that subculture and thousands of them packed up an ran off to Canada, through the Northern border around Michigan

We the people, doing the job our elected officials won't do.

What job pray tell would that be? Fleecing the citizens with broken promises and bridges to nowhere? I'm sorry but, the government staked that claim many moons ago.

Thanks

I fear we probably have enough radical islamist in our own country to do us harm one day. They seem to be very good at recruiting those who have difficulty assimilating into a western democracy (as we have seen in Europe) and I am concerned about their growth in poor communities/jails here in the United States.

If Timothy McVeigh and others of his ilk (the right wing conspiracy/anti-government/racist types) could create an Oklahoma City it is not far fetched to think that radical muslims could tap into the same low IQ crowd to create another tragedy. It seems that was almost the case in Britian a few weeks ago.

You've already forgotten about wee Johnny JIHAD Lindh? You know, the white, upper middle-class Marin, Cal. idiot, who was over in Afghanistan, fighting with his "brothers" against the "horrid" Americans?

America, unfortunately, already has lot and lots of American born, second and third generation citizens who are part of sleeper cells; from upstate N.Y. to Tampa, Florida, to Oregon , and I forget where else, right now. There've been many articles, with maps, posted to FR about this.

And then there are the black and Puerto Rican and Dominican gang-banger jail converts ; not to mention the NOI and THE NEW BLACK PANTHER PARTY and on and on and on. Some here say that McVeigh was connected to an Islamonazi sleeper cell.

With so many of the foiled plot Brit terrorists being of Pakistani descent, we probably have some of that here too. And THAT is where the Canada connection comes in.

No. I have not forgotten about him. There are lots of people living here who hate our nation. The left and the right have had their share over the last century.

From everything I know about McVeigh, he had nothing to do with Islamofacism. Prior to Oklahoma City there were plenty of Billy Bob's and Bubba's who hated America. North Idaho was full of them but I think most of them were sickened by what they witnessed after Oklahoma City and it toned down alot of the rhetoric/passion in the "militia movement".

When you preach hatred you will eventually find someone (normally a simpleton or confused youngster) willing to act on your behalf.

The northern border would be much more difficult to fence

You obviously haven't seen some of the terrain on the southern border. If you had you wouldn't think that way.

No, the rhetoric of the white supremacists has NOT been toned down any; they just burrowed deeper down, underground.

I'm not claiming the Islamonazi connection with McVeigh; just telling you that some here make that claim. If you use FR's search engine and look at the archives, you'll find the threads.

I have been down there but have no great experience with either region.

I based my belief on two things. The Canadian border is larger (and has more mountains/geographical challenges) and I know some Border Patrol veterans who now live here in Washington. They say the geography here would be (and is) more difficult than it was in California, Arizona, and Texas where they worked.

There are great challenges to fencing either border but I disagree with those who say it cannot be done. I don't think it would be 100% effective but if we stopped most of the traffic with Mexico it would pay for itself IMO.

The reality is that neither party is willing to address the issue.

___________

I know they are still out there but I have to disagree with you. I think they are much less organized, much more infiltrated by law enforcement, and have fewer members today than they did 10 years ago.

It's not only the terrain, there's also heat, rattlesnakes, scorpions etc., to contend with and armed criminals living in slums within feet of the border.

What we should have done was build a replica of the Panama Canal on the southern border and made the peanut farmer come up with the funds for it.

The issue is being addressed and the construction is underway as we speak in several areas by the NG.

I do know that someone who posts "We can put a man on the moon in the 60's but... " has made a very bad first impression.

You're picking on someone for no good reason.

Lighten up.

BTW, Welcome to FR.

There really is some substantive discussion that occurs here, but you gotta wade through a lot of crap to find it.

Duh! I should have guessed that from your screen name. I'm a Titans fan and I live in Texas. I sorta stuck with 'em when they moved to Tennessee from Houston.

Pardon me, but you're acting like the idiot with your obsession with the poster.

That poster you grossed out last night is NOT a liberal and not an idiot of any sort.

But you on the other hand are doing a fine job of qualifying as something close to that.

And don't forget ..... when you're ruminating about "liberal idiots", think of Sheila Jackson Lee who said we planted the flag on Mars.

Now that's an odiot. ;-)
