Stopped watching in 1993. Nancy Kerrigan was the guest host. It was the most completely unfunny show I have ever seen. I have avoided all the SNL spin-off movies as well. A two hour movie about Tim Meadows "The Ladies Man"? Come on! That skit was filler for the last half hour of the show.
Chris Farley's departure and subsequent death was the final nail. I knew then that SNL would never be funny again. At least I have all the seasons from 75-80 on tape, as well as SNL's next best run whcih was roughly 89-93.
My wife made me watch MadTV with her, and aside from Frank Caliendo who does excellent impressions, the show wasn't funny. It seemed the actors just tried to be louder than each other. It seems they think that the louder you are, the funnier you are.

Saw a MAD TV rerun over the weekend. A skit about the Olive Garden. 'My big Italian family loves to go out for great Italian food. But when we get a coupon for $10 off, we go to the Olive Garden.' MAD TV is uneven but sometimes very funny.

At one time, SNL had the following at the same time, or within a few years of each other:

Phil Hartman
Dana Carvey
Al "Stuart Smalley" Franken
"Pat"
John Lovitz (the liar)
Tim "Ladies Man" Meadows
Rob Schneider, the jive-talking copy-room clerk
Chris Farley (motivational speaker, et al)
Mike Myers

They'll never be that good again.
