"It's their church. They should be able to do what they want." Poll's Over, we have a winner!

My main objection is when people call Christian churches Taliban, for enforcing their own rules. This is what I posted on a different thread...
"American Taliban."
Not quite. The Taliban was the civic government. The Taliban could have you thrown into jail or executed. There was no place to go if you didn't like it. There was no one to air your complaint to.
I may not agree with the churches teachings, or how they went about their actions, but it is NOT the same as the Taliban. This woman can go to another church. She can appeal the decision in her own church. She still has her civic freedoms with no fear of prison or death. In the Taliban, there would be no such thing.
You play into the liberals hands by equating the evil muslim government of the Taliban, to the freedom of a church to govern itself. The lib's love to blur the line between bad and evil, because their evil can then be upgraded.
Sincerely

Okay, I've got your number. You don't believe the Bible anyway, and simple words (1 Tim. 2:14 - "NOT deceived") don't even have the same dictionary meanings to you, evidently, so it's not even worth a discussion on the matter with you. I haven't been able to keep up with the entire thread, but I'm guessing now that even a liberal wouldn't find a discussion on Bible matters to be profitable with you. Have a nice life.

At the same time they should let everybody who might be tempted to come in the front door know that they've become an Apostolic church and are no longer Baptist.

"and simple words (1 Tim. 2:14 - "NOT deceived") don't even have the same dictionary meanings to you"The dictionary definition of deception applies too both Adam and Eve as I pointed out.

That's right. The particular century isn't an issue in a discussion of biblical principles, except to provide illustrations as to why "democracy" is not God's favored form of government. The Messianic Kingdom, by the way, will not be a democracy, but according to Scripture, will be a Monarchy, which will not even be established by a popular vote.
The family is a unit which, biblically, is husband/father headed (1 Corinthians 11:3; etc.). Seems as though, in a church conference or business meeting, husband and wife would vote the same, if voting was used.
So, allow the husband/father to represent the family with his vote, and this forms a kind of "republic" in the local church. I believe in the republican form of government.
The local church, as a spiritual form of republic, would reflect the Bible's teaching on headship, submission and unity in the home, also the "pastoral" nature of each husband/father in his own home and, therefore, would foster a stronger church as well.
We have a booklet entitled, THE SPIRITUAL REPUBLIC, which outlines local church government in this fashion, as well as how widows and single women have their needs cared about under the "republic" too. We have seen it work and flourish in mission churches in Asia because of the attention it gives to strong faithful homes.
Are we interested in using the local church as a platform for womens suffrage? Nope, 'cause it is not established for such purposes.

No, the Baptist Sunday School classes I've been in where women have come in and taught have gone downhill. The men shut up, and eventually quit coming and it ends up being run by all women.

If not literal, then the Bible means only what any individual wants it to mean, so none of these discussions matter anyway.
The Bible indicates when figures of speech are being employed. Otherwise, the words should be believed by their normal-literal interpretation.

No by-golly!! Just leave her in the kitchen to cook me another chicken-pot-pie!!
Women need enough chain to get from the laundry room to the kitchen, to the bedroom!!

"...activists more than theologians."
Correct. Female pastors are just like females at presidential press conferences, most female news anchors and most female Congress members. Activists.

What a dumb question.
Of course.

The word that you fail to understand is "NOT." (1 Tim. 2:14)

Regarding posts number 350 and 378:
We know that the early disciples met in the Temple, in homes, by the rivers, and in upper rooms. Corinthians tells us of meetings in public and in private. The early Christians met daily (often in the evening, after work and continued late into the night) and, sometimes, on the first day of the week. We know that at times they each voted, sometimes decisions were made by throwing lots and sometimes they held councils - most notably, the council at Jerusalem whose requirements are laid out in Acts 15.
We know that there continued to be bickering and that some even embraced Gnosticism in binding more than the simple Good News on others in actions, or by claiming one teacher superior to another. We know that even Paul and Peter had very public disputes. In other words, they continued to be human.
However, Paul, John and Peter agreed that we have a new law in Christ, that nothing God cleansed is unclean, that we should love one another and protect the weakest among us from stumbling. We know that we have been reconciled to God, by God, and that we and all of our brothers and sisters in Christ were "circumcised by Christ, and not with hands." We are in Christ, covered by Christ, and His Spirit dwells next to ours.
No one should seek to be first, no one is to be domineering, and we should all submit ourselves one to the another. It's the disputes that are a shame.

I love weaving with cotton, too.
But a bit of other fiber with it can make it wear longer.

Joyce Meyer can clean one's clock to good edification and Spirit Led results quite regularly.
And, it's clear it comes out of hard personal experience, study and even humility. Some people seem to find it hard to see her humility. She's got a very strong personality. But she's been broken more than a few times.
Broken bread and poured out wine is best with either sex in any role . . . in The Body.
