ohfercryinoutloud, what do they expect after a week and a half of the media and the rats have been pounding the Senator for a week with that stupid story?
1) It's AUGUST
2) Senator Allen still has 6 times the funds that Webb has.
True. This will blow over. The media is out to get him. Would you belive they are going back to the 1990's when he was on a board of a company that is now being investigated by the SEC. It's starting to hit the blogs now. It seems Webb is doing so poorly that they need to dig in real deep to try to get something on Allen.
1) It shakes some of the groupies off of the "Allen in '08" bandwagon. Perhaps we can actually make it through the '06 elections before seeing another thread on that (dream on, I know).
2) These manipulated polls may well cause the media to focus more attention on this race, thereby diverting money and resources into this state and away from more competitive seats. Allen hasn't lost any support among Pubbies, he's got a huge warchest, and he hasn't even started to fight.
3) Psychotic Jim Webb still has 2.5 months left for more public hissy fits and maybe even a full meltdown. The chance of that is only going to increase if he's feeling pumped up about his chances. :-)
