The reason Admenijihad's inner circle chose this date was so the entire western world would focus a day's worth of news coverage on the religious holy day of Mohammed's mythical ascension into heaven. Their government is trying to spread their version Islam through everything they do.
They're attempting to become the central religious authority for the Islamic world. The next step is to import their revolution to the dissidents in Saudi Arabia, so that Mecca will come under revolutionary control.

There's a silver lining to this "end of the world" talk...beer tastes especially great knowing these are my last...er, few...in this world.

All right then, let's make a suicide pact. We'll drink beer until the world ends.
I'll go first.

I'll go first. May I make my poison gin & tonic instead?

let's make a suicide pact. Make that a martyrdom pact...and, BTW, I am 3/4 through with my first Heinie and have another in the freezer (want it extra cold for the end of the world party).
Ain't martyrdom hell!

Today the Mariners will not lose. They aren't playing. Tomorrow, I forget, some team back on the East coast with funny-looking pinstripes. They face an M's team that has lost 11 straight.
The end of the world can't come fast enough.
