I recall a few years back there was a controversy over the use of prison labor in the US, something about prisoners being paid 20 cents an hour doing what union labor is paid $20 an hour to do? In 36 states it's legal to employ prison labor to work in commercial enterprise where products can be exported? I wonder if American Honda, Konica, Toys R US, TWA, AT&T, and Microsoft still use prison labor today, or did they bow to union labor pressure and stopped?
I'm against "political prisoners", but not prison labor in general. I think if we're going to house and feed them, they should at least work for their upkeep.
