At this stage I'm afraid Europe is already lost. Secular socialism has produced a broken self loathing society ripe for take over. Some European nations will resist, but they will be increasingly useless as allies in this war against Islamists.
The US, Israel, Australia and hopefully stronger alliances with nations like India and Japan will have to suffice for now. We must hope we can bring Russia and China on board at some point since both have their own problems with Islamic fanaticism.
The Bush administration basically understands the threat, but has fundamentally erred in how to combat it, does not have the communications ability to lead and is increasingly unable to make bold (or even sound for that matter) decisions. At the same time, Olmert has been a total disaster for Israel.
We must hope that some charismatic, decisive leaders emerge in the West that can lead our civilization in this war against Islamists. We need to drop all PC nonsense, all notions of proportional war, and any inhibitions we have against the use of collective punishment against enemy population centers.
I fear it will take many more terrorist strikes on the United States before we finally get serious about this war.
Oh, a charismatic decisive leader will emerge, but I don't think you really want to follow him.
I saw a program on the History Channel the other day about the Holocaust. It occured to me then that the EU is reaping what it has sown. I came to believe that they are under judgement for the Holocaust. They are toast.
"I fear it will take many more terrorist strikes on the United States before we finally get serious about this war."
Unfortunately your right on with this. Too many of the Sheople of the United States have been unaffected by the war to this point. If a chemical/biological/nuclear attack were to occur in Hollywood, then perhaps the Sheople will awaken.
