"We are committed to securing international trade, and an important component of our mission is effectively reacting in emergency situations," said Commissioner W. Ralph Basham
Not the protection of the American people or securing our borders. We shouldn't get confused and think that a taxpayer funded agency would have our best interests at heart. U.S. Customs and Border Protection is little more than a taxpayer funded security service for transnational corporations.

CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
Just terrorists and not illegal entrants?

Interesting article. IIRC, the borders were only closed for a few days. The skies were closed to air traffic for almost a month which in turn led to the bankruptcy of a few car rental places. I don't recall free trade being a factor but I guess we can always let more terrorist in while we are under attack. It doesn't bother the elite as they are protected with the American tax dollar via fences, bunkers and body guards.
