The good news is that AJ is supposed to be a subscription service on the International tier on Time Warner cable in NYC.

This mean the AJ subscriber information will be readily available for subpoena and the people in the residence can be put under surveillance.

I don't have a problem with there being a database of Al Jazeera subscribers in the U.S. being made available to law enforcement.

From what I've seen of Al Jazeera, the coverage is slanted towards middle eastern issues, but not noticeably different than other international news sources in terms of factual basis etc.

Hmmm....I've been contemplating dropping my cable access for some time now. It just switched from Adlephia to Time Warner. I get so much better news coverage off of the Internet and right here on FR, even though it is a politic site.

Now the choice of hanging on a few more months to see what this AJ America looks like (like I don't already have a preconceived idea) or going ahead and dropping the cable. I was less decided about dropping cable yesterday than I am today. Now knowing Time Warner is going to carry AJ, I don't want Time Warner getting my money.

I see this as a mighty big sticky-wicket for us. We know AJ is often used to incite the muslim population to violence. So, how will that play out with the whole, Freedom of Speech thing. Is this just going to be another manipulation of our rights? (Yep, I think so.)

The muslim special interest groups and "charities" are blackmailing the major cable systems to carry the channel and the cable systems operators have decided to appease them out of fear. So when the beheadings begin on Channel 45 in November, you can thank the cowards at Time Warner and Comcast for giving Jihad another foothold in our country.
