The part about being scruffy and long haired pretty much excludes these guys from consideration as terrorists. Anyone worth their salt knows the first thing out of the mouths of the acquaintances of these monsters is how polite and neat they are. Think little nerd monsters.

It turns out they were speaking Urdu. Which is an Indo-European language IIRC.
