CA: McClintock Emcees Friday Dinner for GOP’s Statewide Ticket

Special Report from the CA Republican State Convention

State Senator Tom McClintock, Republican candidate for Lt. Governor, was the Master of Ceremonies of Friday’s dinner highlighting the GOP statewide ticket. The event was part of the California’s Republican Party’s State Convention taking place in Century City.

McClintock received a standing ovation himself before he introduced the GOP’s down-ticket candidates one-by-one. Moments later, he responded to the Democrats charge this week that they are somehow more united than Republicans.

“Let’s savor the irony of the moment,” McClintock said. “Bill Lockyer has been bragging that he voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger in the last election. John Garamendi’s pitch is that Democrats need him to ‘balance’ Schwarzenegger’s second term. Jerry Brown has been shamelessly crashing the Governor’s press conferences. And, on the sidelines, Antonio Villaragosa is still weighing his choice for Governor."

"Folks, I don’t think I’ve seen a more amiable cast of characters since the Black Pearl sailed off into the shadows in the last ‘Pirates’ movie,” McClintock said.

McClintock said he was having “fun watching Phil Angelides debate himself on television every night over his own tax proposal.”

“Somebody needs to explain to Phil that when you debate an empty chair, you’re not suppose to be sitting in it,” McClintock mused.

“Never has there been a more important choice than the one the people of California will decide in just 81 days from now. It is a choice between a leadership team with a proven record of REDUCING the taxes and regulations that have been crushing Californians, and a leadership team with a proven record of INCREASING those burdens. That is the choice for the voters this fall and the choice that will determine the future of California for decades to come.”

Arnold in the long scheme of things isn't all that important. We need him to win big to bring as many conservatives into office as possible. And that is why McClintock and the GOP down-slate have minimized their disagreements with the Governor. The real enemy is the LIBERAL Democrats.

From email:
McClintock Hosts Workshop in Support of Protecting Property Rights

On Saturday morning, Tom McClintock led a workshop on protecting our property rights. Senator McClintock was joined by Assembly member Mimi Walters, Orange County Supervisor Chris Norby, Orange County Register senior editorial writer and columnist Steven Greenhut and Bob Blue, a business owner of a luggage shop in Hollywood who has been a victim of eminent domain abuse.

This workshop was held to raise the awareness of Proposition 90 and build support for the initiative among Republican faithful. One of the more interesting panel discussions, more than 120 CRP delegates attended the workshop.

Gee... Um... Isn't there a person running against Barbara Boxer? Starts with an M, but no one seems to be able to mention him. It's the party's fault, yes, but it'd have been nice if McClintock's website could have mentioned Richard Mountjoy.

Petty of me, I know. McClintock's campaign has been the only one I've donated to this year.

Never has there been a more important choice ..It is a choice between ...That is the choice for the voters

Could Senator McClintock be the subscriber behind the FO account?

It's close. His speech only lacked the word "only" to be a perfect match.

It is a choice between only...That is the only choice for the voters

I just don't get this logic. There is nothing to say that the liberal wing of the CAGOP will vote for the down ticket conservatives. I just posted the contributions of one of his most recent "republican" nominees to the UC Regents--who donated to Feinstein this year.

That's sad. I have always liked Mountjoy!!! How could the CA Republican Party be so stupid as to not support his candidacy???

That is the most wretched argument and is simply NOT motivating, but rather humiliating and disheartening, then just plain sickening!!!

In our perfect world others would call us a dictator.

The art of political survival in a democracy, whether direct, federalized or republican, demands compromise.

Those who put their eggs in one basket, one last hope for humanity, could receive a rude awakening if their dreams are realized.

If sworn in on Jan 7, 2011, Governor McClintock could well turn out to be other than expected, if his survival depends on it.

Few US politicians, after the 18th century, have been willing to lay down their political careers for their country or state.

Yet McClintock and conservatives are holding their fire. True, Arnold IS a liberal and I have no use for his policies. But a big vote for an incumbent Governor usually benefits other members of his party. Arnold will be gone in four years but there will be strong conservative candidates to succeed him by then. Its less about Arnold's past than the conservative future in California. I'm already thinking past this election.

Well Amerigomag, one sure has to do far less compromising when your supposed leaders don't always lay down on their backs in front of the alpha dogs on the other side right off the bat!!!

We had an entire Conservative movement that the stupid Clinton Administration and Demonicrats at all levels of government ignited in 1993-4!!! Like dogs chasing cars, the young bucks in the CAGOP didn't know how to govern once they caught up with the cars they had been chasing!!!

They were victims of their own success and of course the Dems just acted like these interlopers would soon be gone and had no right to govern anyways! Most of the un-elected government "officials" concurred with that outlook and helped the Dems at every opportunity!

Compromise wasn't going to do these poor overwhelmed Republicans any good whatsoever!!! They needed a plan, strategery and tactics and some coaching on how to govern and how to compromise and when, if the need should ever occur!!!

The Dem's stategery worked like a charm and soon enough, compromise or not, they were mostly ejected from postions of power post haste and the pissants had their supposed sacred entitlement to rule back in place even though Willie Brown was gone a short distance away...

A "Movement" doesn't need to compromise! Reagan's "Movement" into the Presidency and his "movement" on the Federal legislative body was practically void of compromise!!! And he din't major in the minors, either!!!

So please stop bothering me with all this trite "conventional wisdom" about compromise in politics! It's all about political momentum and movements and tidal waves!!! (and being ready to aggressively govern once you win)

No doubt about it...this guy should have been elected governor instead of the Size XXLarge empty suit that is in office now.
