This goes to the heart of Islam's dysfunctional relationship with sex. Sex is evil temptation and must be subdued and rebuked by males. Females who tempt must be punished. Thus the burka.

After 9/11 one of the three reason that bin Laden gave for the attack was that western media interfered with Islam's ability to attract its youth.

So, in a round about way, when Islamists strike at the US and the west, they are striking out at their fears of sex.
