This is a textbook case of state terrorism, which means, to exact maximum effect. To do so, he has done so, and will in fact do so in the future--i.e. pick a significant date just to insult us further.

Ahhh...dont' worry. Rice will go to the UN and they will pass another "Peace in our Time" resolution. That will stop them...yeah.
Gag...

A nuclear bomb used in a test and a nuclear weapon deliverable via strategic missile are two totally different things.

I agree, however just for Iran to boast they have one would be enough to get things heated up real quick. I am a firm believer that things are gonna come to a head before the next presidential election.

We did go to war after a certain amount of UN resolutions. Of course, Iraq did not have nukes and developmental ICBM capabilities--that may be the big difference in terms of delaying or forestalling our actions on this one.

Kim Jong il is hoping for Hilary Clinton (or another appeasement democrat) to be elected. In that sense, he is trying to stick things out for another two and a half years.

I believe, in the usual sense of belief as a state of knowledge somewhat short of proven reality, that nothing will be done unless N Kor or Iran detonates one or more of their nukes outside their own territory.

They will try even more financial/economic sanctions. I don't know how else they can reply except to begin a decapitation strategy.

Maybe they will interrupt the flow of bogus US bills out of N Kor. That would smart.

This would be the perfect time to have a B2 drop one of those B61 Nuclear Bunker Busters right onto the test sight. Since the plane doesn't appear on radar, and the radiation prohibits sorting the bits and pieces for evidence of the bomb, it would just look like the NK bungled another test. After the missile that couldn't test on July 4th who would question an accident. No down side for the US and we take out most of their nuke scientists.

If true, this is no surprise. We have left N. Korea, Iran and Syria alone too long. These threats to world peace need to be eliminated NOW.

A nuclear bomb used in a test and a nuclear weapon deliverable via strategic missile are two totally different things.Maybe. But I hope that our response this time is a something a bit stronger than last month's "what N.Korea is doing is unacceptable." Right now our enemies in Iran and North Korea are saying and doing openly the very things that we are warning them not to say and do. They are testing our resolve. So far, we are flunking. Yes, it's still early.

such an attack would probably be leaked in advance (by the NYT or disgruntled career State Dept official, or elsewhere).

My only hope is that they do it in October if, in fact, they do it. MSM will be put in a real quandary about how to cover it. Will it help the Republicans? dimmorats, or hurt ol Neddie boy? My guess is that they will try to minimize it and what coverage it gets will be to blame the president and praise BJ that he did not allow it to happen. Somebody called his(BJ's) foreign policy Bugs Bunny, all carrot and no stick.

invariably, whenever it were to take place, by and large the CBSNBCABCCNN response would be 'it's all Bush's fault'. former Clinton admin. people would be the most sought after 'commentators' on the crisis...and of course they would do everything to link in how wonderful the world was before 2001 and Bush.

Who really cares if we arent going to do anything about it.? They could launch a missle over Hawaii and theyd just get an angry scolding from the administration.

" As for me, the death of a cutsie 6 year old little beauty queen girl in Colorado 10 years ago, as sad as that is, has absolutely NO BEARING ON MY LIFE--and millions of others, including you and yours--compared to a full scale nuclear war prompted by North Korean agression in Northeast Asia at this time."
Japanese TV has been covering this " cutsie " story fairly heavily the past few days . You'd think it had happened here ...

Not sure what "The Jong-er's" timeline on this is but hope to be back in DC before he pulls the lanyard.
