I'm suprised she even wanted to own one of these.
Certain types of people have to have the biggest meanest dogs one can buy. When they finally get one, let it roam freely terrorizing the neighborhood, getting citations, fines and still continue to flaunt the law I can't feel sorry for the results here. My view is that it's a blessing that she was mauled rather than an innocent child or neighbor.
Reading this, I think the dog decided it didn't want a bath.
Like Cesar says, you have to be pack leader 100%, not 95%.
This dog has obviously had problems before. Sounds like this foolish woman had a large, aggressive dog that didn't respect her. I'm just glad no innocent person was killed.
I've got a 4 yo anatolian mix shepard that's the same way, he won't even bark at people unless I tell him to, or a strangerr gets close to me. He loves people, especially children, but animals, forgettaboutit. As soon as he hit maturity all dogs and other animals must submit or it's a fight. He does "RELEASE" upon command and a tap on his haunches though. He's a good obedient boy.
"Wiley had several citations for owning a vicious dog, allowing a dog at large.....".Very little sympathy for Ms.Wiley.She should have seen this comming.Fortunately the daughter escaped.
The same reason every jackass has to have a Pit Bull.
One family let's their 10 year old child " walk " the dog. The dog pulls the kid where it wants to go. The kid has no control over the dog at all.
A few weeks back the dog was in my yard, barking at my dogs in the back yard. Of course, the Pit Bull had managed to slip loose from the kid's grasp.
I stepped out, told the kid I was going back to get my gun to shoot it. Five seconds later, the kid and the dog were gone.
Having shot and killed another jackass's Pit Bull that had attacked another neighbor's dog, the neighbor's know that I'm capable and willing to shoot their out of control beasts.
I continue to be amazed at people who insist on owning vicious animals...what is the fascination?
The type of person who owns a vicious dog, encourages macho behavior, arrogantly ignores warnings and citations and lets the dog run loose is exactly the type of person society is better without.
Sorry anyone gets killed but if it had to happen this owner is exactly the perfect candidate for removal from a civil neighborhood. The dog only did what the community should have done in my view.
The name means the "Canarian Dog of Prey
Best dog I ever had with a child was my German Shepherd.
I've had collies, Akitas, Shelties, and labs. My Shepherd once met a two year old that kept hitting it. She just kept looking at me in a pathetic kind of way. Sweet, sweet, sweet.
I have six of these great little guys. They're like peanuts, you can't have just one.
mother of two savaged by her 120-pound pet (dog)
My chihuahua eats this breed for breakfast. No kidding!!!
This breed, like great danes, is generally mild mannered and gentle, the perfect victim dog for my chihuahua to practice her attack tactics.
Exactly the same breed that killed the woman in the San Francisco apartment building.
Who needs such dangerous dogs? Maybe to guard prisons, but a more manageable breed like a Shepherd is better for your home and family.
These dogs should be recalled by the manufacturer.
- - Irresponsible dog owner a victim of her own monster.- -
two problems solved.
One dog you can't go wrong with is a golden retriever.
These are wonderful dogs and people shouldn't be condemning a whole breed by the actions of a few. I have 3 and they are great around my kids, especially my 4 year old twins, who rides them like horses. It's a pleasure to see the dogs drag the kids around the yard on their play things. We have a sled and a wagon that the dogs pull. I can leave the kids with these dogs when I go to town and trust me, nobody is gonna come and cause harm to my kids. My neighbor's German Sheppard got into our yard once and my dogs destroyed that dog to keep my kids safe. (/s)
I watched our dog around the chickens after many were killed, she would try and herd them back into the coop, (that is where they belonged in her mind). Once the rooster decided to stay outside and "defend" the hens, bad move. If he would have went into the coop I think our dog would have left him alone.
Our dog allows cats to sleep on her in her doghouse, she doesnn't randomly kill cats, just the ones that don't submit.
I've seen this in other dogs, my mother in law has a herd of buffalo that the St. Bernard doesn't want to see from the house. They were frustrated with the dog chasing the buffalo, I watched, the chasing wasn't random, it was only when the buffalo invaded his territory.
Well I have an aggressive breed. But I do keep it for a reason - I don't keep guns, and live in an area where I feel I need it.
My car was broken into twice the two months between the time my Shepherd died and I got my Akitas. The Akitas went beserk at 3 in the morning about a month after I got them (they were only puppies). Turned out someone was trying to break into my car. Haven't had a problem since.
All that said, I have no young children, am well experienced with aggressive breeds, keep the dogs well fenced, on a leash, socialized, etc. etc. etc. And they are good dogs. If I suspected for a second they weren't, they would go.
That breed is insane. I've seen them at rare breed shows and they always seem like they are about to snap at any second. Fila Braziliaros are another breed that I don't trust. They freak when you make eye contact. The problem is most people that buy these dogs can't handle them. They think they are cool but they have no idea. My neighbor had a dog that I think was a Presa cross or something, it went after my wife. I told the police that next time I saw the dog loose I was going to put a 12 gauge slug through its head so don't be surprised when it happens. Animal control was there that day and took the dog. The owner was an idiot.
dogs that have been bred to fight....fight other animals. The most important trait in such a dog, if brought up to fight...would be to NEVER attack a human hand, otherwise the dogs could not be separated or trained. Dog fighting happens to be an awful sport...but that does not speak to a propensity to attack humans. This breed is actually known in it's home country to be a laid back and very calm animal. As with every breed that is adopted by the criminal element in this country...and thus vilified by the press it will be ill-trained and proclaimed the newest dog hazard. How many breeds since the 1970's have been assigned this moniker? From German shepards, to dobermans, American Pit bull breeds , rottweilers and now the presa's. Wait till they discover chows and mastiffs, or Bernese mountain dogs or St Bernards...all these dogs can have an awful bite, and kill you.
