The only problem is that if you profile, the terrorists will either recurit people outside the profile, Women, Europeans etc or used comemetics enhancements (fake papers, colored contacts, hair dye) to get around the profile.

Profiling is not a magic silver bullet. The one thing this "everyone is a perp" mindset does is it eliminates security blind spots that profiling would create

No one is calling profiling a silver bullet. There is no perfection this side of heaven. But to refuse to face that fact that virtually all terrorists have been Arab Muslims and to refuse to use that fact to screen passengers getting on to public transportation is insane.

It is a quality control issue. If you screen everyone equally, the plane would never take off. So you screen everyone a little bit and you miss a lot. Especially if you spend part of your “in depth” screening at 80-year-old grannies and give a cursory screening to a young Arab male so that you can prove in a court of law that you are NOT profiling.

And, by the way, prove to me that there are large numbers of white American grannies who are just waiting for the chance to blow themselves up on their next flight.
