I guess we're gonna find out the hard way whether or not we as a nation have the balls to stand up to nuclear blackmail. I hope and pray you are wrong, but I fear you may be right.

we are in a much more precarious situation in the middle east - then most of us think here. our proxy (israel) just failed to defeat the proxy (hezbollah) of our enemy (iran), iraq is precarious because internal elements (terrorists, shia militias, etc) can disrupt the stability of the country at will - and we have not and will not use the kind of military force needed to crush it.
iran might make a move here, they just might. and I don't see any evidence of US forces ramping up in the region - moving carrier groups in, moving aircraft wings to theatre airbases, etc.
