Larry Schweikart (LS) is the co-author of A Patriot's History of the United States, author of a 9/11 novel, September Day, and author of the book from which some of this analysis is taken, America's Victories: Why the U.S. Wins Wars and Will Win the War on Terror (Sentinel).

Special thanks to Freeper Southack for info/analysis.

Iraq Body Count keeps track of every civilian death, including all those killed by terrorists' bombs, shootings and beheadings. They then add them to their total so idiot liberals can blame America.

Great post!

I've been wondering about this for a while.

Why no body counts?

One water bufflo, plus 6 blood trails = 46 VC KIA

Yeah, maybe... I'm sure the numbers are pretty high. The analysis still seems "arm-wavey," though.

Perhaps a more interesting question for you to be asking is: why isn't the military releasing these numbers?

When I was over there (for the second time) in 2002-2004 I met a USAF CAPT that was in charge of searching for the mass graves filled under Hussein. By the time I left in Feb 04, the official count was over a quarter million. He expected the total to top a half million or more. I do not know where the total stands right now. Not exactly in the same league as Hitler and Stalin but no a weekend dictator either.

Iraq Body Count use to have a page that broke down who was killed and by whom. For some reason that page is now gone. But from memory I recall that 1/3 of the total civilians killed was attributed to the coalition and the other 2/3rds attributed to insurgents, terrorists, and violent crime.

So I usually take their total and multiply it by 1/3 for the number killed by the coalition.

How many military casualties are America's Iraqi allies suffering?

The page is still there. It's the database link found in the middle of their home page.

Haven't looked at that, yet. I assume you mean, non-Iraqi allies, right? It's got to be very, very low. A couple of Spaniards, before they left, probably fewer than 300 Brits, and a few Italians. But, again, I haven't specifically looked at this.

It appears obvious that the Afghan and Iraq wars are the most successful military campaigns in modern history.

I'm pretty sure there has been a Korean or two in there as well....

Greap post. Great info. Definitely fuzzy math. The KIA number is extremely important and never spoken. They pulled the same carp with Israel/Lebanon. We need a real number.

http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/ has great info, too, highlighting the fact that those civilians are mostly killed by insurgents.

I'd say three years. The Phillipines took about 11, if you include the Moro Wars, and they weren't quite as well supplied as these guys. We had the same % of troops as a share of total land forces in the Philippines in 1900-1910 as we do in Iraq!!!!

How different things would be if the media were not pro-failure to America.......

Could you imagine if the ENEMY knew these numbers? I think "recruiting" would drop quite a bit, eh? Yet they blame President Bush for "creating" terrorists and aiding in the recruiting of said terrorists?

I wish Americans would get their damn heads outta their glamourworld, race with the Jones, asses and WAKE UP!

/where is my beer.....

Exactly. If this were being publicized, we would already be finished in Iraq and on to Iran.

BTW, it's fascinating that Adm. Ray Spruance, of Midway fame, complained about the newspapers in WW II that all they DID was report "good news," and that they weren't realistic enough. He said they should be more like Churchill, and say, we have a challenge ahead.

Now they've gone 180 degrees the opposite direction.
