Jewish, Arab and Korean shop owners had ripped off urban communities for years, selling us stale bread, and bad meat and wilted vegetables.
Ripped WHO off? I'll betcha all that stale bread, bad meat and wilted vegetables was bought with tax dollars from MY paycheck (i.e. food stamps). Are you really getting ripped off if it doesn't cost you anything?
Anyway, the last time I was in the produce section of a Walmart, the produce looked NASTY!

I used to work in the produce section at my local Sam's Club. The produce came in looking great, and if I and my coworkers didn't keep it that way, we didn't get our raises. One of my coworkers got fired over missing upcoming expiration dates. I still check the stuff carefully, myself, before buying it, because it's easy to miss one or two packages out of the thousands in stock. On the other hand, I've been to a few stores, including the base commissary, where the produce was just flat NASTY, now and again. It can happen anywhere.
