Wow what a neat thread! Heraldry has been a hobby of mine since I was a kid. I have a whole library of books on the subject, and have done lots of genealogical research. It's a vary misunderstood subject here in America (well actually everywhere it's pretty misunderstood these days). For anyone with an interest in it I always recommend the works of Carl-Alexander von Volborth as he directed much of it to American readers. And his artistry is some of the best for beauty and simplicity. They can be hard to get ahold of though.

At a French airport... A group of American retired teachers recently went to France on a tour. Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, was part of the
tour group.
At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry-on.
"You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically.
Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.
"Then you should know enough to have your passport ready."
The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."
"Impossible!" barked the officer. "Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France."
The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look.
Then he quietly explained. "Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in '44 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find any Frenchmen to show it to!

Thanks, Ms. B, for preparing the Canteen for today’s activities. Interesting thread. For anyone who has never seen "A Knight's Tale" and love jousting, rent this baby. Be warned it is not your typical "knight's tale" movie. It has a modern twist, is funny, and a couple spots of nudity - (watch the kiddies) but lots of jousting.
Well, I've been given a task that needs my immediate attention, so I will be lurking again today. It's that time of year when the end of the fiscal year is in sight and our funding will require constant attention. The good news is that I am off tomorrow so will be able to harass visit with most of you.
Time for me to make my rounds. But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!
