I had thought for a while that any reform of Islam would come from mothers. While they were willing to tolerate mistratment themselves, they would not tolerate their sons expected to be homicide bombers and their daughters a lifetime of abuse.

You grossly overestimated.... Muslim mothers have been sending sons off to die in the name of their mental disease for thousands of years.
There is no moderation in Islam... it is a ends justifies the means warriors credo, not a religion of peace.
Islam believes it is destined to rule the world and advocates its followers to do everything in their power to make it so, and makes ABSOLUTELY NO DISTINCTION, NONE, ZIP, ZILCH, ZERO whether they do it by peaceful or violent means.
