Family members of a Bay Area native and Fox News reporter kidnapped in the Gaza Strip are worried, but hopeful his abductors will release him.

Steve Centanni, 60, and his cameraman, Olaf Wiig, were driving through the Palestinian territory Monday when unknown gunmen stopped and kidnapped them.

Centanni graduated from Los Altos High in 1964 and worked for local radio stations and KRON-TV before joining Fox, said his brother, Ken Centanni, who lives in San Jose.

Fox News representatives called Ken Centanni and another brother, Nicholas Centanni, of Los Gatos, early Monday to tell them of their brother's kidnapping.

``We are a little bit nervous right now because we haven't heard anything one way or the other from the kidnappers,'' Nicholas Centanni said. ``We talked with'' the Fox News ``negotiators last night, but they haven't heard from the kidnappers.''

Concluding snip:

Small groups seeking personal favors, such as a job or the release of relatives from jail, have kidnapped foreigners in Gaza in the past. All were released within a few days without being harmed.

No group has claimed responsibility for kidnapping Centanni and Wiig.

Nicholas Centanni worries that his brother's kidnapping is different, because, he said, two trucks of armed men whisked Steve Centanni and Wiig away.

``This doesn't seem like some small-time criminals,'' he said.

After a hefty randsom is paid Centanni will be released.

Now, please tell me why these thugs and terrorists aren't completely crushed? Why is it that Israel must not use "excessive" force?

How long before the Far Left starts snickering amongst themselves that Bush will have to start a new war now that one of the FoxNews reporters has been kidnapped?

Until America becomes energy independent from the middle east islamoNazis we will have to be "compassionate" in war there and so will Israel.

We need a Manhattan style project to become energy independent. Until we are energy independent the arabs and the other worthless punks that control the oil in essence control us.

Because of all the oil money we pour in to the middle east we have been and continue to fund the growth of islam around the world. And because of that money there are zillions of arab, iranian, etc. nutcases that have nothing else to do but figure out how to destroy Israel and the US.

The only way to deal with these idiots is to stomp them until they can't move anymore. Israel should have been allowed to do whatever they damn well please because the people they are fighting against are backwards, heathen cowards that would shove every Jew in to the ovens again if they had the chance.

The islamoNazis have figured out that if they keep their armies in plain clothes they will win every time. Israel just shoved back a bit and now the other side will once again build up their weapons and forces and then at some point it all starts over again.

The imams in the mosques will never ever stop what they are doing. And that's calling for the destruction of Israel and America. At some point decent people will have to decide if they want that to continue or not. beat them or join them. No other options.

Supposedly a "fringe" group. I hope this isn't the start of kidnappings like those in the 80s in Beirut.
