The world now has more overweight people than hungry ones and governments should design economic strategies to influence national diets, a conference of international experts have heard.

Please, keep government as far away from this as possible.

In the spirit of affirmative action, I propose shipping anyone over 400 pounds to Bangladesh. That should make the numbers look nice and pretty for all the bean-counting boobs who feel entitled to dictate such things.

"The average Japanese household spends almost a quarter of its income on food compared to under 14 percent in the US," Senauer said.

It's true, sushi is way more expensive than Big Mac's. Heck if I could afford it I would eat nothing but sushi too. Problem is, it would take more than 100% of my income.

"In the mid-50s, my grandmother was still stuck on "people are starving in Europe" and then it progressed to "starving in China" to "starving in India" to "starving in Africa" along with my mother adding "it's a sin to waste food."

Was a time when all of the above was true. It was all caused by Communism during the 20th century. No such thing as starvation caused by natural disasters any more. Mao and Stalin together caused more death by starvation during the last century than all the combined natural disasters in recorded history.

"You mean that my mom's "Eat Your Vegetables" lecture about starving people in China was false?"

Depends on when she said it. In 1958 Mao launched the "Great Leap Forward". During the next few years approximately 30 million people starved to death in China.

Maybe Professor Popkin should consider whether 'obesity' is the next step in human evolution before he says we should 'cure' it.

" They will catch and eat the slowest and fattest ones, and give some much needed exercise to the others not quite as slow or fat."

A clear case of when survival of the fattest doesn't apply.

This is not possible because the Environmental Wackos told us in the '70s that we would all die of starvation because mommy earth couldn't produce more food.

"Japanese cities are based on efficient public transport -- and walking. The average American commutes to work, drives to the supermarket and does as little walking as possible."

Of course they do. For some reason, Asians in general seem to prefer to be crowded and stacked on top of one another. Even in Asian countries that still have land available (China) they do this.

$140 steaks will do that to you.
