Woman named CEO of Pepsi-Cola (Isn't she the middle finger speech maker?)
The Washington Times ^ | August , | Vinnee Tong

Posted on 08/15/2006 4:24:11 AM PDT by saveliberty

Pepsico Inc. Chief Financial Officer Indra K. Nooyi will replace Steven Reinemund as chief executive, the Pepsi-Cola and snacks company said yesterday, making her the No. 2-ranked female CEO in the Fortune 500.
With her Oct. 1 appointment, Mrs. Nooyi takes her place in an elite group of 11 female CEOs running Fortune 500 companies. Patricia Woertz at agricultural processor Archer Daniels Midland Co. ranks first. ADM is ranked 56th in the Fortune 500, while Pepsico, the world's second-largest soft-drink company after Coca-Cola Co., is ranked 61st.
"I'm very excited and at the same time very humbled," she told analysts during a conference call yesterday morning.
Mrs. Nooyi said she felt fortunate to be taking over at a time when Pepsico was in such a strong position, with solid growth across all its business units. She and Mr. Reinemund have worked closely over the last five years, and Mrs. Nooyi described their relationship as one in which they complete each other's sentences.
"Indra Nooyi is truly a star and has been working side by side with Mr. Reinemund over the past several years," Citigroup analyst Bonnie Herzog wrote. "She has been very involved with every major decision Pepsico has made over the past five-plus years, and therefore, we expect this transition to be very smooth."

The last coke that I enjoyed was in the late fifties. There unfortunately is no comparison with what passes for Coke today. Caramel flavored corn syrup.

If you are where there is a noticeable population of mexican people try some of the local groceries or even Walmart and look for coke in a bottle similar to the past. They are imported from Mexico and are made with real sugar not some other form of sweetner. They maybe more to what you remember from the 50s,

While my actions won't have much impact

I disagree. You have the courage of your convictions and that will inspire others. You sir, can stand tall. Whereas, the likes of Ms. Noori will always be rummaging about on their knees.

Pepsi's about to get kicked out of India for selling tainted pop. Now I have a reason to feel good about that.

Not to mention Quaker Oats, and Taco Bell, it looks like I can stop eating and drinking without Pepsico.

If you are where...

At the moment, I'm not, but if things keep going the way they are, I may not have long to wait.

It's not just Pepsi. Pepsico owns (and this list isn't nearly complete):
Taco Bell
Kentucky Fried Chicken
Pizza Hut
Long John Silver's
Frito-Lay
Quaker
Gatorade
Tropicana
Evercrisp
Corina
Gamesa
Sobe
Mrs. Smith's
Pepsico France
Frito Lay Canada
Sabritas
Simba
Snacks America Latina
Frito Lay/Quaker
Copella
Chipsy
Walkers
Elma Chips

If you're going to boycott them, it'll take more than dumping out the Pepsi.

I dunno about Indira Nooyi's politics, but she is a traditional religious Indian hindu woman who has risen to the very top of one of the biggest companies in the US. As a fellow hindu, I am proud of her.

For long many racist jokes have been made in the US about dot wearing traditional Indian hindu women...

Does your opposition to Indira Nooyi have anything to do with the fact that she is a traditional hindu woman ? I see a lot of racist anger in your post.

There are lots of liberal minded individuals who have risen to the top in fortune 500 companies. I dont see such hate attacks against them.

Pepsi is a global company, and like many professionals of today, Ms.Nooyi is a global citizen. Her loyalty has to be only towards furthering the interests of Pepsi's shareholders.

I am a conservative myself. A big supporter of Bush. But I am a hindu , and am alarmed at the hate attacks directed at a fellow hindu.

Taco bell and KFC got spun off, I believe. They bought them but started running them into the ground. . .

I dont know if you lot care or not, but this sort of blatant hate attacks directed at Ms.Nooyi will be seen by the 800 million strong hindu community living in India and 25 million more living abroad, including 3 million in the US - most of who are very fond of the US, as being anti-hindu , racist and xenophobic.

Whats your problem ? You boycott Pepsi because they have an Indian hindu woman as their CEO ?

It just a personal thing. I know just buying coke instead of pepsi doesn't hurt them, but I won't be seen drinking anything with their name on it.

That has to be one of the dumbest posts I've ever read.

Nobody has said a word about her being Hindu or a woman, and nobody cares. We wouldn't care if it was an American-born, Anglo-Saxon male. The complaints have nothing to do with her background. All you have to do is read the thread to discover the reason for the complaints and dislike of this woman.

As for the 800 million, if they're dumb enough to interpret this in the way you say they will and that you apparently have, all I can say is they need to work on their reading comprehension skills rather than threatening to take politically correct offense at our complaints.

Absolutely not. I could care less what her birthright is. I do care, however, that she heads a US-based Fortune 500 company and is making anti-US statements in public.

There are lots of liberal minded individuals who have risen to the top in fortune 500 companies. I dont see such hate attacks against them.

Wrong on two scores. First, my comments were not a hate attack. There is simply no transitive argument that you can make that logically progresses from my statement to the conclusion you suggest. It's simply that I disagree with what she said. Second, I'm sure there are Fortune 500 companies that are headed by liberals, but most of them are smart enough not to refer to the US as the middle finger of a World hand.

Pepsi is a global company...Her loyalty has to be only towards furthering the interests of Pepsi's shareholders.

I disagree. Her company is US-based and I think she has a responsibility not only to her shareholders, but also to the economic and political environment in which that company exists. If the loyalty argument is stretched to its logical limits and the CEO is only bound by their shareholders' interests, then both illegal and subversive activities become acceptable. I don't believe that's true.

I am hindu , and am alarmed at the hate attacks directed at a fellow hindu.

I really fail to see how you read anything into my statement that says I hate Hindus. I think you're looking for a strawman to explain why you hear things go bump-in-the-night when there's nothing there.

Oh, and one more thing: please let the admin/management of this site know that they should be expecting 800,000,000 views over the next few coming days. They may want to add some server power in order to make sure no Hindus are deprived of the ability to read this thread.

I am not surprised. The board rooms of most corps are the scenes of much gagworthy utopian Leftist BS. There are various contributors. The hippie Ivy League boomers having reached a certain age, various "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" type groups sponsoring repeating Lefty activist shareholders resolutions, and, the bilge that corporate leaders get to drink when they attend crap like Davos and other similar utopian wank fests. Well, now we see the results. Expect this to happen at more and more corps until we hit rock bottom at some future date.

I have consistently attacked this trend in all corps. By the way, some of the worst examples of Commies being made C levels are Anglo Saxon men from the NE US. Most Hindus who do well in biz tend to be politically conservative and most ones in the US are real patriots. This beotch is gagworthy precisely because she is thusly atypical. She's more like a Anglo preppy almost in spite of whatever traditional elements of her upbringing.
