HOW DARE YOU...you've been kidnapped and fear for your life for months...they tell you they will release you only if you make a video saying some things...yea, I bet you'd say no. You people freak me out.
I guess it wasn't likely they'd name her Brandy or Cinnamon, the names of my favorite friends down at the, uh, ... oh never mind....

I'm not going to tally up if more or less were killed, freed, escaped or rescued, but the fact remains that neither the fact that she was not killed nor the fact that she was allowed to watch TV is remotely suspicious. These are not holes in her story. They are details. Holes are not details.
"BTW, if women are sooooo equal to men, and fit to be combat soldiers "if they want to be", why is it that the terrorists felt safe to let her go free in the house? Either G.I. Jane was BS, or this babe was known as a sympathizer."
Either women shouldn't be soldiers OR Jill Carroll was an insurgent sympathizer? That's it, those are the choices? That is BY FAR the craziest false dichotomy I have ever seen. Kudos.
"Patty Hearst syndrome before and after the kidnapping?"
Don't think so. I believe she's always been sympathetic to the bad guys.
I I did, you can bet your last dollar I'd be strapped into a chair and beaten half to death.
What do you mean "you people"? You mean people with morals? People with balls? People who think honor means something?
The woman was free in the house. She has a history of hating jews (she is one, but hey, some of the worst jew haters in the world are jews) and the US. She had NO honor.
Real evidence has been raised that Jill Carroll supported the terrorists, and hated the US -- prior to her kidnapping. Not proven, but worthy of consideration.
Do you recall the German lady who was ransomed from Iraqi terrorists and was subsequently found with part of the ransom money on her person, after the kidnapping? OOPS!
There is no question (based on the German lady alone) that some kidnap victims have colluded with terrorists to pretend to be kidnapped in order to help the terrorists further their aims.
Do I know that Jill Carroll did that? No, I do not.
Do I think it interesting that she was released alive? After many "final deadlines" went by? Yes, I do.
I have doubts. But you? No. You have no doubts. You seem quite sure that she is a poor, poor victim and that people who express any degree of skepticism are creeps.
You should re-examine your thought process on this. I consider my skepticism healthy. I consider your blind faith in journalists and what they want you to believe to be unhealthy.
I've never read that before, and Schlussel knows her stuff. Something doesn't add up.
Maybe she was just communicating in their style and pattern and custom of speech, in an effort to best save her own life.
Well, I think I raise an interesting point. You have people who swear and testify that women are just as suited to combat as men.
Yet if a man did what she did, he would be branded a coward, and given honorary French citizenship.
The fact that she is a woman means most people (except for those of us with the jaundiced eye)feel pity and understanding for her. Soon, lefties will call her a "hero".
I'll agree, it was a crazy dichotomy, particularly as women should both not be combat soldiers AND she was a terrorist sympathizer.
Call me crazy , but I have always thought this kidnapping was orchestrated by her and her cronies to gain access and show sympathy to these radical islamofacist for a future book deal . I just know the book will be comming soon , and I'll also bet the NY Times , LA Times ,the BBC and all the other members of the Mean Streak Media will give the books a best seller rating and I think I'm going to puke so I have to run . . .
Why is Jill Carroll more suspicious than Micah Garen or Paul Taggart? Or do you maintain a healthy skepticism of their captivity as well?
"Yet if a man did what she did, he would be branded a coward, and given honorary French citizenship."
I don't think that's true at all. If a man wants to live, to go home to his family and to be there for his children, I wouldn't blame him for making a harmless statement about the war and then simply revoking it on his release.
This isn't revealing the location of troops under torture. I wouldn't feel any more shame to say "Death to America" than to say "the sky is red" under duress if I thought it would bring me home to my loved ones.
What a sad, pathetic life.
I wasn't talking about Micah Garen or Paul Taggart. I was talking about Jill Carroll.
But you don't want to talk about her do you? No, now all of a sudden you want to change the subject. How interesting.
I am generally skeptical, and I generally find that I was right for taking that approach.
Why did they kill Margaret Hassan yet allow Jill Carroll to live?
I am asking why you are skeptical in this case, which is no different from those cases. They were journalists who were freed by their captors and I want to know if they fall under your scrutiny as well.
That she was freed is wonderful but otherwise not suspicious. This is not unique to her case.
That she was not tortured is wonderful but otherwise not suspicious. This is not unique to her case.
That she was a journalist was probably the impetus for her capture. She was useful. This is not unique to her case.
That she was not killed when her driver was fortuitous for her and a tragedy for the driver and his family. This is not unique to her case.
These is no evidence that she was a terrorist sympathizer or an anti-Semite except one anonymous letter to some blog. That you trumpet skepticism but don't practice universally is odd.
There is not, in fact, any single unique factor to her kidnapping at all except that she will be writing an in-depth, 11-part series about it. She is a reporter so you'll pardon me if I'm not surprised she.. reports.
Why did they kill Margaret Hassan and not kill Micah Garen? Why didn't they kill the Christian Peacemakers team from Canada? Why did they kill Zaid Meerwali, an Iraqi-Canadian national, even as his family prepared to pay his ransom?
The first answer is both that "they" are almost certainly entirely different people in all cases, with similar motives and methods but different levels of ruthlessness. One group might kidnap you and keep you humanely. One might gag and beat you for months before killing you. "They" are not all the same people.
The second answer is that "they" are all crazy people and no one can predict crazy people.
I was thinking in terms of women hostages. But no doubt your reasoning applies there as well.
Freed:
Simona Pari, Simona Torretta, Giuliana Sgrena, Nahoko Takato, Teresa Borcz Khalifa
This is all readily available information, I don't know why you don't know any of this yourself.
It is my understanding that the common thread through all the freed hostages is ransom paid.
