The 'particularly brutal fashion' in which Church's Svengali, Jonathan Shalit was 'dumped' in 2000 was when Shalit gladly accepted an estimated 2 million pounds sterling from the 14 year old Charlotte who had refused to sing if she had to be in the presence of Shalit again.
Charlotte Church's Mother warned that it would cost a lot of money if she were to dismiss Shalit, but Charlotte insisted.
At the time of Jonathan Shalit's dismissal, there were also allegations that Mr. Shalit had engaged in "improper tactile handling" of Charlotte Church but no official charges were ever brought to light.
A July 23, 2006 article from IC Wales finds this interesting note:
"...Jonathan Shalit, who struck gold after signing up the 12-year-old singer after spotting her on a talent show, has reportedly been approached by the BBC for a Louis Theroux-style documentary.
But Shalit, who was famously dumped as Charlotte's manager, politely turned them down.
"I had to say no," he said. "A puppeteer should never reveal how he pulls his strings."
