In early May of this year, our dear friend Flyer was diagnosed with a brain tumor and lung cancer. The docs told him the tumor was not curable, but treatable. His understanding of the lung cancer was that it was minor (if there is such a thing).
Several weeks ago Flyer finished radiation. Tuesday was his first chemo treatment. Friday he was feeling bad, but did not want to go to the hospital. His brother finally called an ambulance Saturday morning to take him to the ER.
A few minutes ago Eaker, myself and Roger (Flyers brother) returned from the hospital. The news is not good.
The lung cancer has spread rapidly. Flyer only has use of one lung. He is on constant oxygen, and his breathing is still labored. Because of the cancer and tumor his immune system cannot keep up, now he has a major infection in his left leg. They are giving him antibiotics thru an IV
The doctors told the three of us that Flyer does not want any heroic measured taken. Right now his care instructions are to keep him hydrated and comfortable.
For those wondering why a prayer thread was not started earlier, it is because Flyer did not want one ~ several friends asked if they could start one, and he said no there are others who need prayers more that I.
It truly breaks my heart to type the following words, our good friend and a wonderful man will soon die. I am asking you to please pray for Flyers comfort.
I'm with you on that cousin.
This has been the worst week of my life.
If you have access to a large printer, say at least 30" wide, you could make 'em full size, and then shoot 'em with TC's .50 at 300 yards, or more (maybe lots more if we could find a range, but 300 yards you can do at the Bullet Hole), or with a serious social purposes type shotgun at 25 yards. :) Course you'd have to make bunch in that case.
Might want to find some pictures of Mahmoud from '79, as well, when he was part of the Embassy takeover, at least according Al Jazeera
Thank you for your lovely and comforting post, The Mom.
And thanks to both of you from the bottom of my heart for all of the wonderful things you did for Flyer. He told me about them in e-mails and was genuinely moved and so very appreciative.
I wish you could have met him - he was truly a wonderful man. One of the kindest, gentlest souls I have ever known. And his personality and sense of humor were stellar.
Please keep me on your update ping list. Even though I wont be able to make it, I would like to know what's happening and be on the list for the thread for pictures.
How is Gizmo doing?

But, I think this pic is him with his best FRiends.
Gilligan sought refuge in the Chevy when the shooting started that day...
Gizmo is doing good. I'll try to get some more pics soon. I think I need new batteries for my camera.
How are you and TheMom? Praying for all of you.
Awesome pictures gunner. Thank you for sharing them.
Hap and I are planning to come. Please keep up updated. Thanks.
I'm sorry to be so long finding out that our dear Flyer departed for heaven. I did not see the thread for some reason. It sounds like he got sick and passed very quickly. I will miss him. I remember asking about his name, thinking that he was maybe a pilot. Not so, he said, and posted a picture of his dog Flyer. He was a dear sweet man. Rest in peace FRiend.
Very sorry to hear this. Good photos, thanx for posting.
My sincere sympathies to Ms.Behavin and all Flyer's many friends.
Thanks for sharing those great pics.
Just checking in to see how you are holding up...
You're in my prayers, always..
Ms.B
I had the honor of meeting Flyer when I went to Texas last May..
He was a kind and gentle soul..
The ones who knew him best are hurting the most..
Thanks for you kind words..
Ms.B
His golden retriever Mason is laying at my feet as I type this. He is far less trouble than any one of my three min-pins.
I figure it would be easier to take care of ten goldens than one min-pin.
The doggie door is 5" x 7". Exactly the same dimensions as Mason's big black nose!
