Syria is removing the minefields to give the Hizb'allah an escape route, and they moved in the tanks to provide cover in hopes Israel won't airstrike the area and make it impassable, like they have everything else.
In a few days, everyone will see this is the case.
Which part of the border? Golan with Syria or Bekaa with Lebanon? Either way, that's mighty close to Damascus.
I suspect the Syrians have upped their alert level, and this is Israel's way of signaling that they see what the Syrians are doing.
