Rodan or MechaGodzilla would have done this. Later on in the movie series, Godzilla became the good guy.
BTW, the original 1956 'Gojira' is arriving on special 2-disc DVD set Sept. 5. Contains both the Japanese and Raymond Burr versions for your viewing pleasure.
