"Wars and Rumors of Wars" - America's interest in seeing Israel prevail, and the limits of it
Citizen Jrnl ^ | August 13 | Gene Lalor

We seem to have tied our future and fate to this tiny nation, Israel, with about the same population as Ireland -- but why? I guess I’m in the minority since even those pillars of conservatism Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are committed, body and soul, to Israel. Maybe I’m missing something here but I just can’t understand why, since that commitment has drawn us into that roiling cesspool of hatred and violence that is the Middle East....I admire Israel’s determination to defeat Hezbollah at all costs and despite world condemnation, something the United States simply refuses to do with regard to terrorism....What I believe is that we are blessed with a far-from-perfect country, but a great country. I’m proudly, unalterably, unwaveringly, unabashedly pro-American. I simply feel that Americans should have the same love, dedication, and loyalty to our well-being and future as a nation as Israelis have toward Israel, as Arabs have toward their homelands, as any citizen of any country should have toward their respective nations. I feel that all Americans should care for the United States more than they care for any other. If that’s a radical idea, so be it.

It seems to me the same Americans who love Israel also love America. I dont see a problem. This comes across as antisemitic whining imo.

If they wanted it, I'd say make'em a state. That's how far I'd support them -- just like I'd support Virginia or Minnesota.

"but I just can’t understand why, since that commitment has drawn us into that roiling cesspool of hatred and violence that is the Middle East"

That shows either an ignorance of history or a hatred against the people of Israel.

No commitment to Israel drew us into problems in the Middle East. The September Attack (AKA foolishly displayed as "911") was not even the first attack against the USA to trigger our involvement. The USA supported Arafat and the "Palestinians." Now US leaders frequently insist on restraining Israel and withholding ordnance shipments from it to please western Europeans.

Americans who are honest about our ally (Israel) are also more in favor of the USA than are neo-Nazis (and their crypto-Nazi, religious identity writers) Euro-socialists or Islamists.

After Israel then Europe. After Europe then America. The Slimes must be stopped somewhere. It might as well be there.

What homelands? They can't wait to get out of the Middle East and into England, France, Germany, Dearborn - anywhere but the Middle East. Then, when they get there, they don't assimilate. Why are they there?

A bunch of them squat on God's land in Israel and claim that's their homeland. They're liars and hypocrites.

The buchanan/reese/sobran ilk are persuaded by evil beyond their imagining to oppose and attack Israel and the Jewish people...

Let's put in simple terms: The USA is conducting a "War on Terror". Lebanon is a battle in that war. Israel is killing terrorists in Lebanon therefore Israel is our ally in the "War on Terrorism". Unlike France we stick by our allies.

Israel didn't get us into Iraq. Invalid proposition, invalid conclusion.

Thanks for posting this article, Max..
