Andersen said shedding some of the misconceptions about girls and guns has been key to encouraging more women to shoot.

"A lot of people think you've got to be a rough woman to hold a gun," Andersen said. "But you can still wear pearls and shoot."

Ooh, now there's something else to practice... Being dressed up, carrying a purse and all, and taking a stand against an attack. We're not always in jeans and tennies or boots.

We had a match where we were holding a "baby". Do you keep the "baby" in your arms and have it become a target or do you slowly drop it to the ground hopefully out of harms way? I think the answer was turn away as far as possible and shoot with one hand while shielding the "baby".

No, you can't take the "baby" and beat the bad guy over the head with it.
