A single copy of that "newspaper" cover could have been printed weeks in advance, for just this purpose. (He does seem to have some influence with the local newspapers.) Then an edition with that cover is distributed, and voila, "fake but accurate" as they say on West 43rd Street.

Gosh, the page looks awfully stiff and white. What is Granma printed on—80# glossy? Anyone know? Either it's printed on very bright white stock, or it's newsprint, and it's been photographed in bright conditions somewhere else and dropped into this pic.

In either case, the white of the page is very blasted-out with light, as if by a flash—but for some reason, El Puerco's face is not. This suggests two different images put together. (On the other hand it could be that separate lights were on the page and on the face of the cadaver, er, caudillo. But why?) In any case, the thing looks too stiff all around, as if the head were shot in another setting.

There's also a shadow cast by the page onto his bedclothes, but apparently none cast by either of his thumbs as they hold the page. (It's conceivable that there are thumb shadows, but they are too small for my monitor to show.)
