While we are at it I guess we need to do away with the 4th of July. Can you imagine how this makes GB feel every year. I really didn't think I needed the sarcasm tag:')
Do away with the 4th of July? And after Vicksburg finally started celebrating it again.

Eff 'em. Calling it "End of WWII" day would make it better? It is VICTORY OVER JAPAN.
You know what?! We'll fking change the forth of July to V-UK or V-B day just because we like it.
And if you don't like it, you can do this...

CAUTION: Extreme violence, vulgarity, and butt-whomping.

I remember the TV show "McCale's Navy", they always called them "nips". Not PC today, so I guess there will be no re-runs. You got it - an entertaining old sitcom swept under the rug because of three letters. A particularly entertaining old Bugs Bunny cartoon is similarly missing from the Warner Bros. "Wartime Cartoons" collection, for the same reason (the title is offensive).
This woman wants to rename that day of remembrance? Fine, I hereby dub it "V-N Day", as it will henceforth be known. So let it be written, so let it be done!

"This is a stigma against the Japanese whom we do business with and are allies," said George Lima, a former state representative
George is grammar deficient, among other thangs....

The victory over Japan was the end of the war. The victory over Germany was not. Yeah, well, these fools can't be bothered with the facts.
In any event, V-J Day shall continue to appear on my calendar, even if I have to write it in myself (note how it has just about vanished from printed calendars these days).

Foolish holiday? This woman?needs to face up to the fact that her glorious ancestors were a bunch of butchers and it required two nuclear bombs to wipeout nagasaki and hiroshima for them to see the error of their ways. never forget the sacrifices of americans in wars past.

That's ri-ight! Mikki-Jima's jihad against V-J Day will have to be waged without their help, and should be fun to watch.

It was and is
VJ Day.
It was in fact a Victory of the United States over Japan. This is simple, irrefutable history. Therefore, it should not be changed.
It is an odd contradiction that essentially communist-types today in 2006 in our midst (whose comrades ages ago were the ones in Imperial Japan arrested or shot on sight), are opposed to celebrating the defeat of Imperial Japan Fascism and the restoration of democracy which included the freeing of thousands of Japanese Communist Party members from jail and the legalization of the JCP. One big contradiction.
