When Blair first took office, I didn't have a high opinion of him. I thought he was Clinton-light: say anything to please a crowd, but do nothing.
That changed on 9/11. On that same day (if I'm not mistaken) Blair addressed Parliament, vowing that his country would stand with ours in this fight.
Five years later, through all the dark days in between, that hasn't changed.
God bless Great Britain and Tony Blair.
I have no doubt that if I were British and living in the UK, I would feel the same as snugs, because Blair is, after all a Labour prime minister. But like you, Jonny, as an American my gratitude to him is immense. I shudder to think where we all would be today if Blair had acted like Jacques Chirac these past five years.

He won me over soon after Dubya was elected the first time, when he said that, unlike Clinton, when Bush speaks he MEANS what he says. And I think that was exactly how Bush won Blair over.
