LONDON - Prominent British Muslims, including three in Parliament, said in an open letter Saturday that Britain's foreign policy has made it a target for extremists. The country's terror alert remained at the highest level, though flights at Heathrow Airport were expected to return to "nearly normal."

The letter, printed in several British papers, said Britain's intervention in Iraq and the failure to secure an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah militants in Lebanon were providing "ammunition to extremists who threaten us all."

"We urge the prime minister ... to show the world that we value the lives of civilians wherever they live and whatever their religion," said the letter, which was signed by three of four Muslim members of Parliament and 38 Muslim groups, including the influential Muslim Council of Britain. "Such a move would make us all safer."

So the UK's policies trigger wild-eyed rage.

I thought it was the war in Iraq...poverty...a cartoon...Western decadence...

Could it be our mere EXISTENCE????

We have laws to protect society and prisons to house those that break the laws. Does that mean that our policies are causing people to break the law and go to prison?

There are two Zogby's.....one the polster and the other his brother.

No difference between them. They have an agenda but are too craven to admit they care only for the arab point of view as opposed to any pro American opinions.

This moralizing and equivocating by this murdering, pagan death cult is starting to wear a little thin. The only earthly way to appease these guys is to roll over and simply hand the non-Islamic portions of the planet to them. They are eternal malcontents and anyone with a single functioning brain cell can see what the end result of their growth in the west will be. There will be constant terror (or the threat thereof) and incessant whining about the unfairness of the west until they attain sufficient strength at which time they will crush their hosts and settle the issue once and for all.

The underpinnings of Islam (its source documents and its history) are simply incompatible with western ideals. The longer we refuse to face this reality the more difficult and painful the issue will become.

Indeed. In fact in the name of peace and to show our unity with the poor put upon freedom loving peoples of Palestine, we oughter volunteer to be willing victims.

I mean how depressing it must be for the terrorists. They plan so carefully, they pick the targets, they get psyched up. 1,000s dead oh boy. Another blow for freedom!!. And what happens. Nada, zilch, they get caught. All their dreams turn to ashes.

But think if we would supply them with a list of people who embrace their cause and who understand the fundamental issue. ( explosives can be our friend). We could give them something to blow up and at the same time show solidarity.

Mind you I don't have a list made up yet. Do you know the names of the NYT editorial board?

The civilized world already shows these values. It's the Muslims' responsibilty to stop the slaughter - then we will all be safer. Until the Muslims stop the slaughter, I hope our military kills them at every opportunity and at full speed. Muslims care only about the hereafter, so we need to dispatch as many of them as possible - as quickly as possible.
