It IS appropriate to discuss ALL relevent issues in the PRIMARY as I believe a persons position on these issues are an indication of how they will handle other "principle" based decisions.. this is a PRIMARY, and as it stands now I support Gallagher in the PRIMARY... I will SUPPORT the winner of the REPUBLICAN PRIMARY in any case.. Hope this helps your concern...

It gets even worse. Ever since we became aware of Terri Schiavo's life and death struggle, The Advocacy Center for Persons with Disabilities would not help Terri Schiavo just like Charlie Crist's Office would not help Terri. Maybe this new position was a payoff to keep quiet about her email that is posted all over the internet.

FROM THE PUBLIC SECTION OF FLABAR.ORG

Martha Frances Barrera, Member in Good Standing, Eligible to practice in Florida,

Firm: Advocacy Center For Persons With Disabilities

2671 W Executive Center Cir Ste 100

Tallahassee Florida 323015092

It looks like she resigned from Charlie Crist's Office after Terri died from dehydration to join the Advocacy Center for Persons with Disabilities but THEY WOULD NOT HELP TERRI. They are tied to the right to die lobby.

Irrespective of my choice for governor, please be advised that the attorney general in Florida has no law enforcement duties. He is '' the state's chief legal officer'' but law enforcement is a constitutional duty of the governor and local sheriffs and then the state attorney (the prosecution branch). The attorney general has no line authority to any sheriff or state attorney, they are independent constitutional officers. Thus, attorney general Crist had neither the authority nor the personnel to do anything as you suggest and in which you paint him with fault.

Terri was being tortured to death when Charlie Crist's Assistant Martha wrote this statement "Everybody is a critic." We cannot disapprove of a crime in progress?

The Florida Attorney General has a Civil Rights Dept. Terri's civil rights were being denied. He took an oath to protect Terri's civil rights but instead, he protected Judge Greer.

I'm going with Crist too - Here's what newsmax.com had to say about Crist:

Throughout his career Crist has been a fighter for innovative, positive change. As a state senator, Crist fought for and passed the STOP (Stop Turning Out Prisoners) legislation that required prisoners to serve at least 85 percent of their sentences.

He also co-sponsored legislation to implement the charter schools bill, which gives parents the freedom to pick the best schools for their children.

As commissioner of education, Crist supported early reading programs to better prepare children to read at grade level when they enter school.

As attorney general, Crist helped draft, and worked to pass, tougher price gouging and looting laws; supported stronger penalties for identity thieves; and spearheaded landmark legislation requiring prescription drugs to be tracked from the manufacturer to the pharmacy to ensure drug safety.

He also created an innovative program to aid victims of domestic violence, and was named the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence's 2005 Advocate of the Year.

He has vowed that as governor, he will promote business in Florida and appoint conservative, not activist, judges to the courts. Despite Gallagher's claims to the contrary, Crist is solidly pro-life and supports a constitutional amendment to define marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Significantly, polls have consistently showed that Crist is the stronger GOP candidate, and he would fare better against either of his Democratic rivals, Rep. Jim Davis and state Sen. Rod Smith, in the general election to replace outgoing Gov. Jeb Bush.

One recent poll revealed that in a head-to-head match-up, Crist outpolled Davis 48 percent to 32 percent, compared to Gallagher's margin of 41 percent to 38 percent. Against Smith, Crist won by 18 percentage points; Gallagher led by only 10.

Crist has also won an impressive list of endorsements. Recently Sen. John McCain expressed his support for Crist, as did the National Rifle Association, whose past President Marion Hammer said "no one has been stronger" than Crist in support of Second Amendment, self-defense, and anti-crime issues.

Other endorsements have come from Sen. Mel Martinez, Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart and Jeff Miller, the Police Benevolent Association, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Florida Association of State Troopers, the Cuban American Veterans Association, and the Florida Nurses Association, as well as 46 members of the Florida Legislature and 28 county sheriffs.

Gov. Jeb Bush promised to remain neutral in the race and has not endorsed a candidate. But NewsMax believes Charlie Crist is the best candidate to continue Gov. Bush's legacy in Tallahassee and keep Florida among the most prosperous states in the Union.

Actually, I mailed my ballot today and voted for Gallagher.
The main reason is that Crist said he supports the Senate amnesty immigration bill. That to me is a national issue, not just a FL one, and I'd never vote for anyone who would willingly support bringing us more fiscal, social, and cultural disaster via such a horrible piece of legislation.

If only my present representative could now be defeated!

No court anywhere would categorize that matter as a civil rights issue that would contravene a lawful court order, upheld by the intermediate appellate court and the state supreme court. It was legitimately an emotional event but devoid of any legal issue. Irrespective of how fervently one would try to shoehorn the event into an ill-fitting legal pidgeon-hole like civil rights, the law is not fungible to accomodate such a contortion.

I don't disagree with your statement, but Gallagher seems to be a one horse show - and that horse is not even one he can ride as governor.

I am certain Mr. Gallagher has positions that would be interesting to hear and relevant to discuss. However, he and his communications team have chosen Life issues as their focus, and despite what we may think it is NOT a winning issue in a general election. The northeast Democrat influx into FL continues - fiscal conservatism, maintaining the resident tax advantages that caused people to relocate in the first place, and local protection are the winning issues.

I just hope someone out there is listening.

I think either man would make a fine governor - either would certainly be better than anyone the dems have to offer - but the vilification, name calling, and mud slinging in this primary are discouraging.

Crist is good economically and as a crime fighter but other than those two areas he is no kind of Conservative at all. He is Florida's Giuliani.

I don't think a fair comparision of two candidates side by side is "mudslinging"...

Certainly not, but you have to admit that here and elsewhere there has been a lot of it happening. I am not accusing you - I've not seen anything of that kind under your tag line. I am commenting on what I see in general.

Maybe FL just doesn't have enough conservatives left to fill the old phone booths, as it used to be with registered Republicans. So many liberals have gone into the Republican Party.

I don't know if you read my post (368) but I voted, with some reluctance, for Gallagher - because of his refusal to support the illegal amnesty Senate bill and he seems to have a firmer grasp of the illegal alien crisis that's overwhelming all of us.

And I expressed my hope that my district rep. would be defeated -- not only a Dem, but one of the very WORST of them. And that takes some doing!

See posts 338 forward.

339 is lengthy but shows you the state of mind of Florida's trial lawyers. They are mostly DEMOCRATS. Of our free speech rights that include criticizing terrible judges in Florida, they said "This must stop."

Charlie Crist's former Assistant AG Martha made a pledge to protect the judiciary from the people. March 24, 2005. Her Boss Charlie Crist hailed J. Greer and J. Whittemore as heroes for protecting the judiciary in July of 2005.

That's not Crist's job nor was it his Assistant AG's job. She was stupid enough to email it to someone who put her email on the internet for all to see.

Crist is from St. Petersburg, Florida, not St. Petersburg, Russia.

Someone ought to tell Charlie that we have free speech rights and that includes the right to criticize the judiciary or anyone else in government.

He's no conservative.
