He will increase taxes....and fast. He wants to increase teachers salaries and keep that class size amendment. Where do you think he's going to get the money?

Why pray tell, is the Assistant Attorney General promising to protect the judiciary? I thought the Attorney General's Office was in the Executive Branch. This is Charlie Crist's assistant ag. We've been trying to tell everybody that Crist doesn't play fair, not even at work!

How can the FL AG Office pledge to protect the judiciary when that is not their duty under the law? Their duty is to protect the citizens of the state of Florida, not the judiciary!

LET CHARLIE CRIST EXPLAIN THAT. Everyone needs to see how Crist's Assistant AG sold out every Floridian for the sake of the judges, not for the justice system!

We have caught Charlie Crist and this is a violation of his Oath of Office. Who's going to report same? Please report this to the media or to Jeb Bush.

I've had quite enough. (time to look out the curtains again lol)

If we do not wake up and vote for only the most conservative choice in this election then we are in trouble...That is the reason we have the problems in the Republican party now...I will only vote for Tom Gallagher...I honestly feel we are limited in choice but to me he is the only choice....

Even Jeb said it was a political mistake when he dropped 11 points in the polls in two days. I'm glad Crist didn't join the politicians who made fools of themselves and had every doctor and court in the state laughing at them

Sorry to hear you distain politicians who have convictions based upon morality, and that you excuse politicians who get their "convictions" by sticking their fingers in the wind.

Florida's going the way of California (and the way Vermont has gone) -- down the tubes.

Our laws protected her husband.

Then there is something wrong with our laws.

in honoring another spouse's wish

That's the issue, isn't it. That the court would believe that this was Terri's wish, with no evidence other that the word of a man who was fevered in his drive to kill her off, and then the fact that people in Florida, let alone FR, would side with the husband in this case, is beyond me.

From what I've read of Crist on other threads, I would sit out the election should he become the nominee. I will always vote for Republicans in federal elections, because the fate of this nation in the world depends upon not letting Democrats back into power in Washington. But in state races, it would be better to send Republicans like Crist into political oblivion than to give them the ability to shape the policies of the state, and ultimately, national party.

Dave,
You're killing me. This is exactly what I was talking about. When a candidate for significant office stakes their political pedigree on a limited scope of issues which do not have broad appeal they maringalize themselves.
Honestly, someone please tell me what power a governor has with regards to Life issues? The law has been set at SCOTUS. Unless and until they revisit Roe a governor can do little if anything. Yet, people continue to want to stake their political lives on these issues over which they have no say and no sway.

Granted, I am 3000 miles away these days, but I have seen nothing significant from the Gallagher campaign to get themselves any attention that does not relate to Life issues. It is not a winning strategy. I'm sure there has to be something else, but begging for help from hard line social conservatives is making him look desperate and looking desperate in a primary makes people think he can't win in November.

Best of luck, but Crist is looking strong, not only in the primary - but he appears to be rolling towards Tallahassee.

P.S. The other thing that bothers me is the people who stake their vote on only 1 or 2 issues. I have seen so much screaming and crying by people in a number of states who claim that if their guy (normally an extremely social conservative) doesn't win then they are throwing away their support for the GOP and staying home in Nov. People please remember that there is a LOT at stake in Nov. The House, The Senate, and momentum for 2008 can all be gained or lost. If you cannot bring yourself to vote for candidate 'X then fine, leave that spot blank o election day, but get out there and support those you can, vote for those who deserve your support, and continue to moving forward for the changes you desire and to maintain the things you cherish.

Who among us 20 years ago could have predicted a SC as it sits today? A Senate made up as it is? A House that has been solidly GOP for years?

Every election matters. If you are so pro-life that you cannot stomach a vote for Mr. Crist then at least vote for the House and Senate - imagine the legislation on Life that a Speaker Peolsi would push through... imagine the traveties that would come out of a Senate led by Harry Ried... imagine where Life issues will be if we cripple the President and allow the Dems to drive the debate by giving them congress. Just imagine.

Crist's support after the debate has dwindled, much like his support in a hypothetical match against Davis fell apart as soon as he started running commercials. I was leaning toward supporting him just 2 weeks ago. After looking at his views, no way.

The debate showed him to be a liberal, pro-gay adoption, pro- "civil" unions, etc.

If Roe v Wade is ever overturned, we certainly don't want Charlie Crist in, but even if it's not the role of the Governor is important with regard to parental consent, state funds for abortion agencies, partial birth abortion (if federal law is in limbo), etc.

Gallagher can easily beat Davis and Crist has shown himself to be a liar who says whatever the opportunity warrants. People get turned off by that.

CHARLIE CRIST'S EMPLOYEE PLEDGING TO PROTECT THE JUDGES WHILE TERRI WAS STILL ALIVE. How despicable is that?

IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE COMING RIGHT UP:

An email that was published on the internet so anybody could read it...

From: Martha Barrera [mailto:Martha_Barrera@oag.state.fl.us]

Sent: Thursday, March 24, 2005 7:28 PM To: Herman J. Russomanno; Fla Bar Subject: RE: Responding to Attacks on the Judiciary Dear President Kelly, Mr. Russomanno and fellow counsel,

I cannot help but think that attacks on the judiciary have eroded our system of justice in the eyes of the public to such an extent that people now believe that death threats against judges are acceptable. The recent violent attacks on judges and court personnel, such as the one at the Atlanta courthouse, are in danger of becoming commonplace events. Violence is becoming the norm in all aspects of society.

Everyone is a critic. Everyone is an activist. Your opinion on an issue is the only one acceptable. If a person disagrees with you he/she is ignorant, unpatriotic, a heathen or a criminal and should be shot or burned at the stake. Incredibly, this attitude is encouraged and embraced by persons in authority and by those who should know better.

Examine recent history, surf the internet and survey television news shows, and C-Span. Vitriolic and acrimonious criticism of court opinions concerning elections, the Lord's Prayer, the 10 Commandments, and right to life issues, among others; criticism of legislation concerning insurance claims, lawsuits against doctors and businesses, class action suits; criticism of criminal sentencing and of jury verdicts have reached a crisis level and bombard the public through every media outlet including the internet. Knee jerk reactions, insults and threats are the custom of the times. Differences of opinions have become bitter and personal rather than topics of discussion on which Americans agree to disagree.

I agree that this is a crisis that needs to be addressed. Regardless of each individual's political affiliation, we need to promote and insist on a code of conduct that above all encourages respect for all persons, for the rule of law, for separation of powers, for freedom of expression and religion and for our institutions regardless of individual views on and commitment to the issue involved.

As a 28 year member of the Florida Bar, I heartily endorse the actions of the Bar and FLABOTA.

Martha F. Barrera

Assistant Attorney General

FV SAYS: So much for the Separation of Powers when Charlie Crist gives awards to judges and his Assistant AG pledges to protect the judiciary against the people's right to free speech or as the trial lawyers put it "This must stop."

I hate collusion, don't you? Instead of protecting judges, they were mandated to protect people like Terri Schiavo. Oops, their bad.

The really sick part was that Terri was still alive when they were trying to figure out a way to protect themselves. While Terri was alive, it was their MANDATE to protect her, not the people who were torturing her to death! CHARLIE CRIST IS NOT PRO-LIFE. He is part and parcel of Florida's right to die movement.

Besides, how stupid can you be (Crist's employee) to put her pledge to the Fla Bar to protect judges and to suppress free speech on a web site for all to see? These trial lawyers aren't very bright.

How stupid is the Fl AG Department to not realize their email was going to be posted on line on a trial lawyer web site by not insuring making sure their email was private? Really.

Do we want to trust Florida with people this naive?

And, some of these trial lawyers have a problem with The Lord's Prayer and the Ten Commandments in addition to Terri Schiavo.

Tom Gallagher's smart. Vote for Tom Gallagher.

For the life of me I will never ever understand why she was done the way she was...My wife has worked for several hospices..She feels that she should not even have been there...Course I know the reason she was so her husband hand his bunch had control of her...The liberal media and liberal politicians went out of their way to support her death...Including some in our party..I will not vote for a person who does not put life at the top of his or her agenda..Life is precious and should be held at the highest priority...Am I a single issue voter no...But with Crist it is not a single issue for me...It is a group of things that worry me...My vote is for Tom Gallagher...I think if conservatives in this state go out and vote he can win...Why should we settle for second best..
