I blame Bush who instructed Rice and Bolton to ruin a chance for Israel to strike a crushing blow on the war on terror. He lost me. Where in the hell did he go. The Republican party is done and we will have suffered hard.

It just ups the ante is all. delays the inevitable.
in seeking peace thru a ceasefire, they will find none forthcoming. no matter how many they throw into the fray in the name of peace and for the children.

The agreement calls for the deployment of 30,000 Lebanese and U.N. troops along the Israel-Lebanon border. It falls short of some of Israel's demands, including a strong mandate for the U.N. forces to take on Hezbollah guerrillas.
Olmert is allowing Lebanese troops on the border.

I agree. The United States was interjecting itself too much in this conflict.

That prick from the UN, what's his name, Annan, is speaking and Fox News is carrying the entire mess. I want to puke. < Flipping away from Fox News now. >
To: garbageseeker
This makes me sick to my stomach. Olmert might as well shoot his own troops and people if he does this.

Everyone wants Bibi, but he was as ineffective a PM as any of the recent crop...

Thanks for the post GS, and I agree. Did you see the comment of Ari Shavit, of Haaretz? He called on Olmert to resign. There is a firestorm going on in Israel as we speak.

I agree that we and Israel have not done a good thing. Maybe it'll be okay. Oh to have BiBi in charge.
Charles Krauthammer analyzed why this was a bad deal on Special Report tonight and it is really depressing. I feel so sorry for the IDF soldiers who were treated pretty badly by their Government these past few days. Many interviewed said today as they were going in yet again that they hoped they could complete their mission and not the politicians.

I have defended Olmert many times on this site. I thought that he deserved a chance and prove himself. Maybe I was mistaken to defend him.

I think in the current world state of affairs, he would be plenty effective. That is to say, he would move to wipe out Israels enemies

I spoke up for him at the beginning but I got quiet as Olmert undermined the military at every juncture. He reminds me of McNamara, one of the best and brightest, but so smart yet totally ineffective.
