Are you referring to Monet as "crap?" I love Monet. I saw his Waterlilies at MoMA a few weeks ago. It's gorgeous (I want to do it in cross-stitch at some point). The Musee Marmotton and the Musee d'Orsay in Paris both have a large Impressionist collection, and in person, they are joys to behold. Monet, Manet, Cassatt, Morisot, Renoir, Degas... outstanding artists all, IMO.

Not at all! The Impressionists and Post Impressionists are my favorite artists of all time. I wasn't even referring directly to the Chagall painting. I was countering the statement made on that post. He was calling the Chagall crap but I submit that millions of people and millions of dollars say otherwise.

I have a print of Monet's `LeParc Monsieu, Paris' hanging in my office. And `Poppy Field' at home.
Painting is at least one thing the French do well.
