Admitting that I don't know a lot about MOAB myself, I think that it's really caught on in pop culture but I don't know the practical utility of it. If I recall correctly, it has to be dumped out the back of a C-130, and is unguided. My gut feeling is, as soon as the politicos get out of the way, the IDF will do what it does.

And the IDF is very, very good at what it does.

After Hezzbolah claims they won the war, I guess he decided he needed to kick some more butt.

The way you win a war is kill and destroy until they say "I surrender", then you take their land. I don't understand the term "limited war".

You watch, we will have trouble there again someday, just like we didn't finish Korea, Viet Nam, Cuba, at the Bay of Pigs, Lebanon, and Iran in the '70's, It all comes back to bite you. The Germans and Japs are "our friends"( I know, I know, but at least they ain't shooting at us), Because we killed their asses until they said "That's enough". In Korea, we got a UN ceasefire. Yeah, that worked. Lebanon will be the same until the Jews go in and topple the government, arrest the Hessbolah's, shoot Nazralla, and change the name to North Israel. Then you can negotiate whatever you want.

You see that Egypt, Jordan, and Syria don't want to take Israel on. They want someone else to do it. They got their butts kicked and don't want to do it again.

An ass-whooping is on the way

I hope so. The quickest way to lose a war is to fight it half-assed.

Godspeed to the IDF.

I certainly hope your right. It is indeed possible that this is an elaborate ruse, it just seems REALLY elaborate if true.

Either way, now that the green light has been given, Hezbollah better get ready for a MAJOR ass-whooping.

don't have time for a proper reply so google "set us up the bomb" or maybe "all your base are belong to us" for the oblique reference...

GBU-43/B "Mother Of All Bombs"
MOAB - Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/moab.htm

...The 21,600-pound MOAB is an improved replacement for the unguided 15,000-pound BLU-82 Daisy Cutter. It is 30 feet long with a diameter of 40.5 inches. The warhead is a blast-type warhead. It was developed in only nine weeks to be available for the Iraq campaign, but it was not used in combat.

...Contrary to some reports, it is not capable of deep ground penetration.

...Unlike the Daisy Cutter, the MOAB falls to the ground without the use of a retarding parachute. As a result, the aircraft releasing the bomb can fly at higher altitudes, thus making it safer for US pilots.

...The MOAB weapon kills by way of blast or fragmentation. Blast and fragmentation are historic and common anti-personnel effects in lawful military weapons. There are no components that would cause unnecessary suffering. The explosive ingredient H6 is a widely-used explosive that is typical for weapons of this type. The components RDX and TNT do have some potential toxic effects from long-term exposure, but these are limited and within US government tolerance levels. The potential psychological effect of the weapon does not constitute suffering. The intent is to demoralize or frighten the enemy by impressing them with the large footprint, resulting cloud, and tremendous noise of the explosion.

One thing to remember is that what we're being told doesn't necessarily reflect the realities on the ground. The "powers that be" all have their own agendas and manipulation of public opinion is one component.

With that said, KICK A$$

There's a lot of creative comedy on today's threads. What a relief!

This is off topic a bit, but did anyone hear a talking head General on FNC say he belived that Israel would go up to the top of the Bekka valley and find Iraq's WMD's there? He mentioned, that Olmert needed to go to the Syrian border to cut off what was coming next, or something to that effect. With all the bluster from Nazralla saying he could hit Tel Aviv, and South Lebanon would be a Jew graveyard, maybe they need to look up there. I did hear clearly that that is where he believed the Iraq WMD's were now.

Wouldn't that be an October surprise for Bush? LOL

My hope, then, is that the gloves are truly removed and the IDF indeed does what it MUST do. For decades the West has shown the Islamofascists a willingness to talk, to appease, to listen, to bear with patience. It is long past time that these folks learn that there is an end to talking, to appeasing, to listening, to bearing with patience that is SOOOOO terrifying, SOOOOOO horrific, SOOOOOO totally devastating, that they will be inclined toward capitulation next time (should they survive to see the next time.)

At the end of the day, this is what will win the war on terror: a West that is willing to do EVERYTHING THAT IS NECESSARY to ensure the complete destruction of terrorists, their lands, their homes, their way of life, as well as the complete destruction of those that in any way support or give aid/comfort to its practitioners.

Jimmy Carter's opinion on anything constitutes a negative litmus test. If he's opposed - it's all good.

So, what ordnance solutions are available to the IDF that would be highly effective in bringing the Hezzies out of their bunkers to make the operation less costly? I can't believe that they've exhausted their options at this time.

sounds a bit like when Nixon ordered the bombing of Cambodia. The world freaked but he knew what he had to do. Problem is, public opinion followed the freakage rather than the obvious military strategy. Oh yeah, and we had a draft. (main reason we will not be defeated the same way in Iraq)
