I think blowing your entire family fortune for a job that pays $165,000/year is a good indication

So when Huffington in CA blew away $15 million for a shot at the Senate did you criticize him too?

Actually, it is because of that picture on the horse, and because she stuck it to Gore.. :)

I second that emotion.

It's good to hear you are keeping up with the Santorum campaign. You haven't posted a single comment about your U.S. Senate candidate from PA in 2006.

40% of your FR posts over the past month are about Katherine Harris; a paltry 26% discuss the Tour de France.

You've got a terminal case of Katherine Harris ObsessionTM.

Yeah, I don't post as much as I used to on this forum. My job keeps me pretty busy. That said, I exercise my political interests via other channels as well. When I come here I only comment on a few topics, Harris being one of them.

Instead of obsessing on Katherine Harris' clothes, staff, money, equestrian style, etc; Freepers should talking about Bill Nelson's betrayal of Floridians:

Part of the blame was in 1996 when then insurance commissioner Bill Nelson allowed national insurance companies like State Farm and Allstate set up separate Florida-only companies. Nelson is now a U.S. senator.

Gallagher said that the Florida-only companies jack up rates saying they have too much risk, while the national parent companies show huge profits.

Gallagher, the former insurance commissioner, displayed his expertise on insurance problems and said candidates who promise to force companies to lower rates aren't telling the truth.

The same companies wanted to do the same after Hurricane Andrew in 1992, when Gallagher was the commissioner.

"I said no, and did not let them do it," he said. "Unfortunately I wasn't the insurance commissioner in 1996."

Nelson really screwed up the insurance market though and now Florida Republicans have to correct his incompetence

I would expect to see at least some overt indications of this presumed instability in Harris.

I think blowing your entire family fortune for a job that pays $165,000/year is a good indication.

How well do YOU know Ms. Kathrine Harris over there???

Here are some quotes from Ms. Harris herself: Chairperson Mary Frances Berry wrote a letter to the editor of the NYT, which was published on July 19, 2001,in which she referred to her “view that dereliction of duty and leadership by the state’s hughest officials plagued the system.”

I invite you, the reader, to draw your own conclusions. “Through this attack and others like it, the political prognosticators predicted the I would not be able to bear up under the pressure, that my career would be derailed, that I surely melt into a little puddle, leaving only my broomstick behind. Through it all, I had to keep reminding myself that I could be broken, be bitter, or be better.

The new legions of reporters who scrutinized my every move following the recount controversy did not realize that I had overcome vicious and unfounded attacks on my integrity since the beginning of my political career. During my 1994 campaign for the Florida state senate, I unknowingly became one of seventy (70) Democratic and Republican candidates for office who became entangled in a thicket of campaign contributions made illegally by Riscorp, a southwest Florida insurance company. When I discovered this problem three years later, I became the only candidate out of the above-mentioned seventy who repaid the entire amount of improper contribution to my campaign - $20,000 – out of my own pocket. (Contrary to media reports, I was never required to do so.)

Regrettably, these same media sources have conveniently forgotten that this controversy involved any other public official but me. Most egregiously, when they attack me on this issue, they fail to mention that Democratic U.S. Senator Bill Nelson receive at least $75,000 in illegal campaign contribution from Riscorp during the same time period -while he was running for election as Florida Insurance Commissioner and would soon be in charge of regulating Riscorp

How much has our insurance premiums increased? (My comments!)

…….Neither I, nor do I believe the dozens who accepted these contributions, had any idea what activities, illegal or otherwise, were transpiring at Riscorp’s headquarters. To accuse me of such would be tantamount to saying tha a candidate who received donation from Arthur Anderson or Enron knew what was going on behind closed doors.

I refuse to surround myself with “yes-people.” None of us can do all we are called to do if we try to go it alone. Working together with others affords us a host of advantages. If we do not care who gets the credits, it is amazing what we can accomplish.

Despite the constant frustration I have experienced concerning these distortions and falsehoods, I have resolved that they will not break my desire to serve. They will not embitter my faith in the people to see through the haze of misinformation. I have thus decided instead to become a better person, a better public servant, a better wife, and a better friend. Even when I feel that the media or a political adversary has ventured beyond the pale, I strive to remain accountable to the following maxim: never begrudge your adversary’s good fortune, not rejoice in their downfall. Despite our differences, we must all strive to work for the betterment of our nation and our world. That effort begins in the heart and mind of each of us.”

What a Lady she is with human feelings, NOT an attorney? Instead of all the confusing judicial mumble-bumbles among the crooked Senators, we need some “fresh” air in the chamber. Therefore Ms. Congresswoman Katherine Harris is the RIGHT “fresh” air we need as a Senator representing Florida!!!

Politics is a tough trade, and officeholders and candidates can become near-deranged, with the frenetic, treacherous environment of political office and campaigns bringing out the worst in them. Candidates are the star of their production, and like many stars, they may have a hard time dealing with the attention they seek.

Ronald Reagan, the best President in nearly a century, benefited from the experience of Hollywood in a way that few realize: having already experienced and handled well the attention and fame of being a movie star, he bore more lightly that of being a candidate and office holder. Despite extraordinary accomplishments, Reagan was decent and humble man on the day he left office as President.
