. FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) Gov. Ernie Fletcher, under fire for a hiring scandal, is protected by executive immunity and cannot be prosecuted while in office, a judge ruled Friday.
Fletcher, Kentuckys first Republican governor in three decades, was indicted in May on charges alleging his administration rewarded political supporters with protected state jobs. He has accused the Democratic attorney general of conducting a politically motivated investigation in the case.
Special Judge David E. Melcher essentially stayed the case until Fletchers term expires, or unless he is removed through impeachment by the legislature.
lol
So if you get elected to an office you can now commit crimes?
Dems cannot stand it when they lose --
Is the Attorney General a relative of Ronnie Earl?
I had the same initial reaction but my read of the last line is that the judge is saying impeachment proceedings are more appropriate than criminal prosecution.
Since we're talking about improper personnel issues and not murder, I think I have to agree with the judge.
Gosh, that's SOP for Dems in NC. It's expected of them.
"Is the Attorney General a relative of Ronnie Earl?"
As bad a Ronnie Earl is he has not been convicted of a crime like Ky's Attorney General has.
"Gosh, that's SOP for Dems in NC. It's expected of them."
Amen to that statement. In NC our state government is run like a banana republic - without the guns.
Thankfully, I will be a resident of SC in 12-18 months.
This is pure bs. Of course, he can be prosecuted. Don't let them get away with this con.
