Gee, utopian mugged by reality. Happens everyday. One wonders when schools of higher learning might try teaching real life skills, for instance, don't go walking among the racists unarmed. Don't assume everyone is as nice as you. And all racists are not caucasians. Too bad this kid couldn't have done a tour with the Italian military, if he had he might have a firmer grasp on reality and still be alive. For some reason this story reminds of the Dems and their newest senatorial candidate from Ct.

I think Noam Chomsky will change his politics about a half hour after the first suicide bomber blows up inside his office building on the MIT campus. Until then, it's all theoretical to them, kind of like which football team you support.

I call it LDS: Liberal Delusion Syndrome.

Naive liberals believe their moral superiority just emanates from them, like an aura.

They believe this gives them immunity from attack, because the "oppressed" peoples amongst whom they walk will recognize they are "good people."

This happens often when young liberal do-gooders go to Washington D.C. to try to "make a difference." Fortunately for most, they aren't killed. But every year, a few are.

I knew some young "urban pioneers" in Baltimore who suffered from LDS. They got cured fast after being burglarized three times, and then mugged.
