The IDF keeps being surprised. There needs to be a shakeup both among the civilian and military leadership of Israel. The way they have performed is a disgrace.

There needs to be a shakeup both among the civilian and military leadership of Israel. Agreed. I think this war with Hezbollah is the end of the Olmert government. New military leaders will also emerge from it.

I am not sure how the IDF is fighting the ground war. Sending tanks in the lead with limited infantry support against a dug in enemy with modern ATGM's will result in high losses. I still respect the IDF but I question their tactical and operational decisions during the present operations in Lebanon.

The IDF keeps being surprised. I raised the immature ire of Israelphiles on FR a few months ago whenever I suggested that they were living in 1972 and that odds are this isn't your father's Israel anymore. I think one of their problems is that they bought the Israel reputation from over 30 years ago and figured nothing changed in 30+ years.
Seems that quite a few folks in Israel were in a 30-year time warp, too.
This is a rare case where I wish I wasn't right.
