USING THE PROPER LABEL FOR TERRORISTS
Yesterday President George W. Bush caused quite a stir when he made a statement to the media on the airport tarmac. His exact words were: "This nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation." That's right....he said it. Islamic fascists. It's about time somebody the president start using the proper label.
This didn't set too well with CAIR, the Council for American Islamic Relations. Perhaps a better name for that organization would be the Council for Anti-American Islamic Retaliation. But anyway, I digress. Back to CAIR's comments. Their executive director took issue with the Islamic fascism label, saying "We believe this is an ill-advised term and we believe that it is counter-productive to associate Islam or Muslims with fascism,"
Ill-advised? How can a term that is so fundamentally correct be "ill-advised?"
A quick check of Dictionary.com finds this definition of fascism: "A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism." Sound familiar? Let's see....Iran...Syria....Iraq under Saddam Hussein...The Taliban....and on and on. Fascism is what these terrorists who were trying to blow up the planes yesterday ultimately want for every country. Total Islamic domination, in other words, a theocracy.
CAIR went on, speaking about the president: "We urge him and we urge other public officials to restrain themselves." Restrain themselves? Why should they? We're being attacked! Islamic fascists have declared war on Western culture in general, and the United States in particular. Our leaders are showing too much restraint, not too little.
Since when does speaking the truth require restraint? Just about every terrorist attack in the last 30 years has been committed in the name of Islam. That's their public relations problem, not ours.
By the way, no mention in the news coverage of CAIR's remarks of a condemnation of terrorism. Imagine my surprise.
Yes Mohammedan is the more accurate label for them. They absurdly claim to revile idolatry but they pray to the feet of clay pagan idols named Mohammed and Allah. They pray to the Kaaba idol in Mecca. Muhammadanism is a superstitious juju good luck cult same as you find on Caribbean islands
CAIR should change it's name to "council for psychotic serial killer islamic fiends" (CPSKIF).
Me too. Especially important is correct terminology when we have Brian Williams equating the Jihadist Scum with Army Rangers and Navy Seals.
Well something is mentally wrong with Brian Williams if he says that. Maybe the US viewership is so low they have given up and are after pissant muslim countries. Maybe thats the market. By the way who is the dork that always speaks for CAIR who wears what looks like a sock on his head?
It might be counter-productive to the goals of CAIR, but it is nevertheless true.
Good article.bttt.
Aaawwwww, ain't that cute? CAIR is p*ssed. They're so adorable when their p*ssed...they get all frothy. /s
They want to :
C hange
A merica's

In fairness to Mr. Williams, until I hear otherwise I will agree with Howlin that he was a victim of speaking before fully engaging the link between a sleepy brain and muscular vocal apparatus.
That said, while I heard the President stumble over the awkward phrase, Islamic-fascist, I would prefer the more easily remembered and pronounced, 'Slamnotsy'
While still to remain loyal to my liberal roots, I can no longer tolerate the absurd refusal of the PC crowd to call a spade a spade...
For what is worth, by the way, I am disgusted with the Mexican flag bearers and think it is time to get out and come back with honesty and fairness.
This is not an attempted hi-jack, just an explosive venting of bottled rage.
Ah, I must admit when I first saw the discussion about Mr. Williams I was tempted to show the clip from an USAF ad, We've been waiting for you which followed the exploits of the kid in the crowd who took risky adventures generally only dreamed of by those of us who responded to Charles Atlas ads to counter the sand kicking bullies of the world...hmmm, now, there's a thought.
> "Islamic fascists"
The onus is now on the silent majority of mooselimbs to
try to put some distance between themselves and the
Cutthroat Cultists. Don't hold your breath.
> I propose MAZIS ...
Everybody's a NAZI. The word has no punch anymore,
particularly with generations of historical illiterates
suffering from government school brain damage.
Cutthroat Cult pretty well captures it.
If asked: "by that do you mean muslims?"
answer:
"you tell me"
I could swear President Bush used the term "Islamofascists" the other day (within the past week or so.) I don't recall the occassion :( , and I sure wish I had made a better note of it. I was loving it!
>"Some call this evil Islamic radicalism; others, militant Jihadism; still others, Islamo-fascism." <
That must be what I heard the other day!
Seems to me that the press has taken to calling them militants, lately.
Boortz, the presient has used that term more than once, and not just recently. Check before you speak.
The president has given many speeches, defining exactly who the enemy is.
Well he always says don't believe anything he says without checking first.
"Everybody's a NAZI. The word has no punch anymore,
particularly with generations of historical illiterates
suffering from government school brain damage."
I disagree. Find a cop, and call him one. See what happens.
Personally I think associating Muslim extremists with one of the most widely reviled movements in history is a good idea. ;-)
I, too, think "Islamic fascist" is an inaccurate name for Koran-inspired terrorists. It's also lame.
First, by calling it "Islamic", the term explicitly, and erroneously, indicates that they are acting in submission to God. I don't think that Koran-inspired terrorists deserve such respect.
Second, the term "fascist" describes a Western totalitarian political philosophy. Since WW II, "fascist" came to mean any political philosophy (other than Marxism) or regime that one does not like. It's now just an all-purpose political insult, but not a very good one because Koran-inspired terrorists have no coherent political philosophy. This so-called Islamic fascism is not a political movement.
I prefer to call them "militant Muhammadists". This correctly identifies them as violent followers of a false prophet. Muhammadism is, of course, an old, derogatory name for the religion of Mohammad. Muslims never refer to their religion as Muhammadism because they believe that it's Allah's religion, not Mohammad's (PBUH and all that). "Good" Muslims should not take exception to the term "militant Muhammadism" since we're only applying it to terrorists and their sympathizers. If a Muslim were to object to using that term to describe terrorists, you could reasonably conclude that he believes that the terrorists are really Islamic and, therefore, a militant Muhammadist.
