I would call Lieberman a left winger. The rest of the party are shrieking psycho moonbats who need to get rid of lefties like Lieberman so they can claim "progressive" for themselves.

Whether Lieberman is labeled a moderate or a liberal is secondary to the larger story here. His views once represented a sizeable chunk of the Dem Party. Over the years, he had become an outlier. And now, the rightmost fringe of the party has moved completely past Lieberman's views on national security and shows no sign of abating its leftward movement.

And that is gonna kill the Dems over the next two elections - because national security has been the GOP's strongest political position.
