finish it, as it total defeat for hezbollah? so far, I don't see it.

would the people support it? well, the problem we have in the West now - is that the populace wants everything done "fast". a 2 week war, 2 months - they support. a 1 year war, and public support moves to 50/50. look at the US.

But the Israelis are fighting for their lives. It increases the desire to win. Not too many people have to fight against people determined that their country and their persons should die.

Understood...but the US support for Iraq isn't the same as Israel's war in the first instance. Israel is fighting a war on it's very borders, against people who want them wiped out.

You know, yesterday someone sent me the link to a video of Dan rather appearing with Letterman after 911.

Rather was gung ho and wanted someone attacked. Wanted Saddam taken out even if he was not behind 911, because according to Rather, he was still part of the same hate America crowd as bin Laden.

But, to my point, Rather emphasised that what America now needed was for the public to get ready behind George Bush,and have the stamina for a long war. He emphasised that a lot.

Kinda ironic, with his behaviour later on.
