I disagree. Condi works at the pleasure of the President.

Yes she does and she is loyal to Bush. OTOH, my statement holds. Condi wants a ceasefire. Apparently she has convinced Bush to go along with what amounts to a Hezbollah victory to achieve it. He's the President and we are seeing the policy that Condi started out with 4 weeks ago ("We want a ceasefire") trumping Bush's stated policy for this conflict which required that Hezbollah be disarmed and removed as a direct threat to Israel.

Apparently Condi won the argument and therefor Bush lost it. Either that or he's asleep at the wheel. In any case the results are bad.

Disagree. Her job is to make it look like they want a ceasefire and delay things out.

And that is exactly what is happening right now.
